Looking for a fun and exciting day trip from London? Join our family as we explore the beautiful city of Bath and the historic wonders of Stonehenge!
On the first day of our trip, we had planned to visit Stonehenge, but unfortunately, the weather was not on our side. However, we didn't let that stop us from having a great time. Instead, we headed to Bath, where we were able to visit the famous Roman baths and enjoy a delicious meal at Sally Lunn's.
The next day, we were determined to see Stonehenge and set out on a scenic drive through the countryside. The iconic stones did not disappoint and we marveled at the ancient monument's beauty and mystery.
But the adventure didn't end there! We also visited the stunning Windsor Castle before returning to London.

@@livinglifeonpurposetimabbe3729 We were in an electric car and charging in the most remote areas of Scotland (along the NC500) became the biggest challenge. Well, that and driving on single track roads with blind turns, steep hills, and a bazillion camper vans. But highlights for us were Isle of Skye, the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Cotswolds. We're finishing up our series from our month in Norway and then we'll start producing what feels like is going to be a HUGE series from Great Britain.

Tiny note...Jane Austen was before Victoria, she was Regency. Bath's architecture is mainly Regency, like the hotel you stayed in.

Jane Austen is Georgian era, it wasn't quite as dark and bleak as Victorian, that was the introduction of the industrial revolution and interior fashions became very dark to hide the soot. Pollution was so bad during the Victorian era you sometimes couldn't see your hand in front of you and was one of the reasons jack the ripper got away with it. Austen knew the real Dashwoods who owned my parent's house.

Too rushed, it’s not a theme park, for Windsor Castle, the historic town and famous Long Walk allow a day, ideally without young children, at around £30 per adult plus expensive parking, it’s not viable to rush round, going by train is better, a visit to Salisbury and cathedral is much nicer than Stonehenge which in a poll was voted the most disappointing & expensive attraction in England, a tourist trap.

Perhaps, but our research for our trip was tailored to all that we wanted to do. I wouldn’t have changed any of it. I wish we had more time. But a rushed time at Windsor was better than no time at all. Visiting Stonehenge for myself to know that it was a bit disappointing was better than trusting everyone else and never going at all.

Of course a Trip is geared around an invidual interest, And I for one was not disappointed with Stone Hendge ,but my imagination is fierd by prehistory, And having a inkling how the Stones were actually transported and positioned. Also near by was an encampment that was excavated by Archiolegests and thousands of cattle bones were found .Scientific tests proved some were as far away as the Isles of sky .5000 years ago they were brought there ,it just blows my mind .
