I did the 1969 video in reverse (under 7D) almost 15 years ago. I don't know how to log back into that account but I had a really great time making it. The fact that it's on the boc pages is an honor if you go to 1969

Boards Of Canada and Aphex Twin fanmade videos are some of my favorite youtube videos of all time. Not only is all of the music great, but the fan made videos for both artists are some of the most inventive of all time. In fact, my favorite youtube video of all time is “Rhubarb On Classical Guitar” by dalycitytwins. Idk why, just something about old fan mvs of electronic artists is so interesting, and I appreciate that you made this video, because this is something I’ve always thought about.

Oh yeah! I'm glad you mentioned that video. The acoustic cover feels like a perfect video to me. It's such a heartfelt cover that captures the original vibe so well and the video acompanying it just feels so.. personal and important. It's a short glimpse into the lives of these two people that disappeared from that channel 11 years ago. You can contemplate a lot about that video I think, what day these two might have had and where they are now. At least that's what I do sometimes. Like you said, these kinds of videos are just so interesting, they feel like a little safe haven to me where I can just sigh and reflect a bit. And they've become a noticable part of the community of those music groups as well, like the music video to Everything you do is a Balloon or the Zen Monkey in the Stone in Focus video.

That's the exact kind of video I was hoping for every time I searched something up about BOC. Their music and the fan music videos have captured and enthralled me ever since I first saw them. And I'm glad you brought up the interesting connection to vaporwave as well since I also believe BOC and their community had an impact on the whole Hauntology movement and aesthetic. I'm glad this video exists since I could simply gush about these videos for hours, I'd say they're some of my favourite kinds of videos on this site and feel like old relics I return to to calm my mind and contemplate. There are a lot of great videos similar to this with aphex twin tracks which makes sense since the overlap of listeners is quite huge. And even David Firth himself did a lot of similar fan music videos for aphex twin songs all the way back in the day. It's such an interesting time capsule that I love to explore every now and then. Reading decade old comments under those videos and their threads that stretch out to our current present is just fascinating to me as well.

Just discovered your channel today through YTP-related videos, I was surprised to have found a video on Boards of Canada. I can only imagine discovering BoC back in 2006 through those music videos. Personally, I only discovered BoC through an obscure pilotredsun-esque meme of Yanderedev saying "this is a robbery!". In the description, I found out the song in the background was "Boards of Canada - Sunshine Recorder", which led me down the rabbit hole of BoC. I'm not quite sure what it was about it, maybe it's because it was sampled in a vaporwave song I also happened to have come across, maybe it was just because of the uniqueness of the song, but I just had to keep looking for their tracks. There was something about finding such weird & wacky music videos made when KZbin was kind of just another website that made them special to me. The tracks themselves gave me this feeling of nostalgia for a time I've never experienced, kind of like vaporwave. Glad to see someone else who's a fan of BoC & YTPs.

great video! I hope you were able to see a video a guy made Called "the geogaddi project" I believe it has been taken down. occasionally someone will repost it because its really quite a spectacle. 0:02 how come the vinyl noise began before the needle hit the groove? I tell you why. You are playing a digital version of the record with the impression that you’re playing the vinyl because it is cooler to play vinyl. If you were some poor Bangladeshi kid that was to press play on Winamp it wouldn’t have the same effect because you’re all about aesthetics and and shine and KZbin likes and subscribes. What I respect so much is that boards of Canada remain quiet. I believe if they didn’t, you would not appreciate what they had to say. Their music which is so lovely and alluring fell on deaf ears for most of their fans. I think they’re waiting possibly decades to release their next album. It’s possible that their children will release it for them after they’ve long departed. Because I tell you something I am absolutely sure of. BoC fans do not deserve new material.

I discovered BoC in 2000 thanks to Napster. I typed in trippy music for a shroom trip and in that same search discovered LTJ Bukem, Air, Zero 7 and Neotropic. I remember being on the WATMM boards when they ran the contest and I believe it was MDG (Mark David Garrett, a member of the Hexagon Sun and the band's official photographer) was active on both WATMM and the twoism board. I'm still waiting for that elusive BoC set that MDG talked about during the start of The Old Tunes Saga. I would love to have a high quality rip of Forest Moon and 5.9.78.
