When Mario Kart DS first came out, the person at Best Buy either didn't know or didn't care and sold it to me a day early. Because it wasn't supposed to be out yet, the only people I found online with random matchmaking were all like "NOA_Bob" or "NOA_Chris" or "NOA_" whatever.

I join some of these servers every now and then. I do a rotation between MarioKart DS, Pokemon Platinum festival plaza, Heartgold/Soulsilver, Metroid Prime Hunters, and Call of Duty Black Ops. Pokemon and MarioKart are the only games I have been lucky enough to run into people on. I would love another full Call of Duty or Metroid Prime Hunters lobby! DS fps games were shockingly fun.

Black was the first time I played wifi battles since I washy allowed wifi access before that. Oh the memories of having no idea about the competitive scene and going in with the team I casually beat the game with. Oh the one shots I experienced... Good times, I needed a reminder ahah

i still often queue on Wiimmfi for Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship 2008 in hope of anyone trying to queue at the same time. So far after a year ive still had no luck. Wish there was a community around those games and their unique formats...

Ok so the mystery gift pokemon ARE legit if you get them I transfered a keldeo from one of my gen 5 games to complete my home pokedex I know you can get it in swsh dlc but i didnt get that far

Aiming in CoD4 Modern Warfare and CoD5 World At War on the Nintendo DS was actually really easy with the touchscreen. It was trivial for me to get headshots with SMGs, for example. You have to aim down the sights though. It's a lot like the Mouse and Keyboard controls with the touchscreen/stylus as the mouse. Your left hand gets the D-Pad instead of WASD. The only difference is that your left index finger uses the left bumper L to shoot instead of your right index finger on the left mouse button. I think there was an option for reversed controls too. Trying to aim with the ABXY buttons sounds miserable.

I got it to work on a Samsung S9+. The trick is to remove all security from the Mobile Hotspot that you set up, including the password. I named mine "ndsgts".

There were several COD titles on the DS. I played the Hell out of Black Ops with full lobbies back in the day. I used action replay to unlock for myself the explosive tipped crossbow and remember 1 shotting people halfway across the map every now and then. Good times!

There are, but it’s harder to setup than regular DS games online. I wanted to do 3DS first but it seemed like the player base would be less because of how much harder it was to setup

I could never get my ds lite to connect to my internet

because it is so old, it doesn't support modern wifi standard. What you can do is connect it to a hotspot without a password like using mobile data for example. Or you can risk on your main wifi.
