The Rainbow pass is probably named that way because all the towns in kanto are named after colours except the starting town, so once you've become the champion and cought a lot of pokemon you've seen all the colours of the rainbow and now you can access a new area

Version 1.1 also fixed some other details, like a bug that deleted the description of some Pokemon where only the first word shows on the Pokedex (for example, if Pidgey is called "Tiny Bird Pokemon", it would only show "Tiny Pokemon") as well as adding the "Presents" on the Gamefreak logo at the start.

Small note, the bag in Firered/Leafgreen actually *wasn't* infinite. It could hold up to like 70 different items in the Items slot, and only up to 999 of each item. So, while there was a limit, it was virtually infinite

The instruction manual for FRLG had braille instructions at the back- I guess they were relying on everyone actually rully reading the manual
@Br0oham
@Br0oham 3 ай бұрын
Something severely overlooked in almost all Gen 3 videos you'll see is that all of them came with the Braille guide. So when the games had their retail release all of the puzzles were actually a very easily accessible segment of content, that just now are deemed to be weird "unsolvable for kids" additions because the majority of the people making the comments just didn't get to experience it when it was new
@Ospyro3em
@Ospyro3em 3 ай бұрын
@Br0oham agreed, whenever I see a video on this, they always say something along the lines of "how were kids supposed to figure this out?" when the answer was always in the manual. I do miss and have nostalgia for the times that game manuals were really in-depth and added to the experience.
@LaurenxOtt
@LaurenxOtt 3 ай бұрын
I’m a Braille reader because I’m legally blind and honestly it made me really excited to see that in the game, though it still would not be accessible for completely blind people
@EmikaSandra
@EmikaSandra 3 ай бұрын
@@Br0ohamGames essentially requiring manuals to play through parts of them is a weird practice to me. It's like saying that if you played the original Super Mario Bros. for the first time on NSO and got mad at not being able to beat the final world, then you are to blame. I know that's a different case, since NSO doesn't have manuals (even though they added a game that essentially requires the manual onto their service and expect you to be able to go through without it), but I don't think developers should put something into a game that's too difficult for the player to figure out without a book that can be ignored, lost, or not come with the game upon resale. It's frustrating that reading it was always to be expected of the player.
@Br0oham
@Br0oham 3 ай бұрын
@@EmikaSandra The game also has an area with all of the Braille alphabet within the game, the page at the end of the booklet is just for faster reference, and none of it is in the road of standard gameplay, therein not being even expected of the player (post-game FR/LG and R/S/E Regis not being mandatory)

To be fair, the Japanese market for remakes is very different from the western. It's common in Japan for games to get remakes that amount to the Pokémon third versions, being basically rereleases with minor changes, fixes, and bonus content, almost always on the same platform as the original game. Tajiri likely views Blue and Yellow to be the "remakes" of Red and Green, with FireRed and LeafGreen being much more substantial.

I firmly claim myself as a Gen 2 GSC Baby. The very first Pokémon game I ever completed the "story" on was Pokémon Gold, followed by 90% completion of Pokémon Yellow, then followed by full completion of Pokémon Silver. The trainer’s end of battle text box said “bastard” and then the frame went full Japanese. But the games still worked properly, just had a language barrier which wasn’t an issue for me since I started with Red, Green, and Yellow. Essentially, talk to everything and memorize which move does what haha

18:59 Technically speaking, Ruby and Sapphire's instruction booklet came with a braille chart, so any normal child who knew how to read would be able to figure out the puzzles without too much issue (in Ruby and Sapphire). Unfortunately, neither FRLG nor Emerald came with the braille chart in their instruction booklets, so I guess The Pokemon Company just expected people to already own Ruby and Sapphire.

@@ghastlyanarchy1720 During the main story of the game itself? There's definitely more diverse Pokemon available in LGPE, like Oddish and Bellsprout on Routes 1 and 2, early Nidoran M/F near the first rival battle (which apparently wasn't in FRLG, despite being in every other version of Kanto), and of course, all of the Alolan variants you can trade for, providing access to the elusive Dark type for the first time in Kanto. Postgame, yeah, there are more Pokemon available in FRLG, plus Sevii Isles and everything. Good exclusive content, but I value the better combat feeling of LGPE more, during the main game. There are just so many more usable Pokemon than in FRLG, offering more replayability by comparison Oh, and I've always played in handheld mode, so I didn't have to deal with motion controls; catching is extremely easy when you can just point and click lol

You joke but in Heart Gold/Soul Silver there is no Moss Rock, Ice Rock, or Magnetic Areas so you can’t get Magnezone, Probopass, Glaceon, or Leafeon without a Sinnoh game in gen 4.

So grateful for the remasters, Gen 1 graphics just makes it feel too old even though thats what I played back then. But appreciate all the improvements and I can say I play gen 3 all the time

There was a Braille translation in the booklet. So there was no issue with that when the games originally came out. I still wonder why they didnt use the Unown alphabet instead

Firered was my first game! A buddy at school had it, and I wanted it. I remember it specifically because my dad NEVER bought me anything other than for birthdays & Christmas. For whatever reason, I was on his laptop and found it on eBay and he agreed to get it for me🤷🏻‍♂️ first & last thing I ever got for no reason😂.

they actually did that for glaceon and leafeon. heartgold and soulsilver dont have the icy stone or the mossy stone in their overworld. in order to get a leafeon or glaceon, you actually need to trade eevee back to a sinnoh game to evolve it using the special environments. same with anything that needs to be in mount coronet to evolve like probopass and magnezone

I had plenty of those Gen 2 evo teases when I played through the game and got a Chansey from the Safari Zone. Since it was my first ever Pokemon game, I had no idea why the game kept canceling the evolution out even though I didn't press B. I figured that it was a bug until I finally got the National Dex.

These actually were my introductions to a lot of kanto, I played silver when I was little and red and blue were just rumors I’d heard at school

Also I was playing Silver before I learned to read so I didn’t know I could save and the furthest I could usually get before the battery died was to the lake of rage

I remember sending over Hoenn Pokémon to beat the Kanto Elite 4 and complete the postgame which made me feel like the Tourist class players we'd later get in Gen 7 (or one of those anime characters with a random Pokémon from the next games as a tease). Lance's Dragonites were destroyed by my Flygon 😁

My 2nd favorite Pokemon games after Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. It's difficult to put into words how much the old school pokemon games affected me.

Just finished Pokémon Firered with only 1 ratata. No hms or tms neither. I did become the champion. Required pursuit to knock out the ghost types and rock types easier.

I wonder if Nintendo is waiting until Gen 1’s 30th anniversary to release pokemon on NSO. Sure hope not.

Bite is OK against Sabrina, but remember it's a special move (not physical) And she's got pretty good Special Defence. Shadow Ball is a better option, since you can gamble to get one, and it's Physical.

Just beat sapphire yesterday and I feel like those games are better at xp deployment. I had 4 Pokémon around lvl 50 by the elite four with little to no grinding. When I made it to the elite four in leaf green, I had three Pokémon lvl 39
