The instruction manual for FRLG had braille instructions at the back- I guess they were relying on everyone actually rully reading the manual
@Br0oham3 ай бұрын
Something severely overlooked in almost all Gen 3 videos you'll see is that all of them came with the Braille guide. So when the games had their retail release all of the puzzles were actually a very easily accessible segment of content, that just now are deemed to be weird "unsolvable for kids" additions because the majority of the people making the comments just didn't get to experience it when it was new
@Ospyro3em3 ай бұрын
@Br0oham agreed, whenever I see a video on this, they always say something along the lines of "how were kids supposed to figure this out?" when the answer was always in the manual. I do miss and have nostalgia for the times that game manuals were really in-depth and added to the experience.
@LaurenxOtt3 ай бұрын
I’m a Braille reader because I’m legally blind and honestly it made me really excited to see that in the game, though it still would not be accessible for completely blind people
@EmikaSandra3 ай бұрын
@@Br0ohamGames essentially requiring manuals to play through parts of them is a weird practice to me. It's like saying that if you played the original Super Mario Bros. for the first time on NSO and got mad at not being able to beat the final world, then you are to blame. I know that's a different case, since NSO doesn't have manuals (even though they added a game that essentially requires the manual onto their service and expect you to be able to go through without it), but I don't think developers should put something into a game that's too difficult for the player to figure out without a book that can be ignored, lost, or not come with the game upon resale. It's frustrating that reading it was always to be expected of the player.
@Br0oham3 ай бұрын
@@EmikaSandra The game also has an area with all of the Braille alphabet within the game, the page at the end of the booklet is just for faster reference, and none of it is in the road of standard gameplay, therein not being even expected of the player (post-game FR/LG and R/S/E Regis not being mandatory)

To be fair, the Japanese market for remakes is very different from the western. It's common in Japan for games to get remakes that amount to the Pokémon third versions, being basically rereleases with minor changes, fixes, and bonus content, almost always on the same platform as the original game. Tajiri likely views Blue and Yellow to be the "remakes" of Red and Green, with FireRed and LeafGreen being much more substantial.

@@ghastlyanarchy1720 During the main story of the game itself? There's definitely more diverse Pokemon available in LGPE, like Oddish and Bellsprout on Routes 1 and 2, early Nidoran M/F near the first rival battle (which apparently wasn't in FRLG, despite being in every other version of Kanto), and of course, all of the Alolan variants you can trade for, providing access to the elusive Dark type for the first time in Kanto. Postgame, yeah, there are more Pokemon available in FRLG, plus Sevii Isles and everything. Good exclusive content, but I value the better combat feeling of LGPE more, during the main game. There are just so many more usable Pokemon than in FRLG, offering more replayability by comparison Oh, and I've always played in handheld mode, so I didn't have to deal with motion controls; catching is extremely easy when you can just point and click lol
