You and I have had conversations about this song before. I kind of wrote an essay 😂. I'm not sure the experiment has failed. It's just time for it to end. For Tyler's own sanity it has to. I think Tyler created Blurryface out of necessity for his mission not because he wanted to. He needed the ambiguity to get his message to the intended audience. I think it's been hard for him though. Although he obviously had some struggles with his faith early on, I don't think that's necessarily the case from Vessel on. I think he struggles more with feeling like he betrays his Savior by not being more straightforward.(Ode to Sleep, Polarize, Backslide for example). I don't know what it will look like but I do think come June 2025, Blurryface will be no more.

It's like Blurry got free and that seat at the table became a voice on multiple songs, starring roles in several music videos, a Twitter account, the ability to leak music and antagonize Cliqueys, everything a demon could require to manifest a full persona Simultaneously and kinda separately, as time moves forward, Blurry is given a new and important job as the Boss of the Bishops, it comes with an outfit and a matching hood, a big fast horse, a brand new identity and backstory, and the ability to track Tyler down wherever he is at any given moment and hypnotize him into coming with him As each subsequent era since BF has unraveled, he has been given more and more power Maybe that's why it's such a big deal that Tyler opens his eyes in Paladin Strait, because Tyler is going against the weight of all the enormous power Blurry now has Doesn't anyone find it odd the words Blurry/Nico says to him after that highly disturbing horror-core scuttle he does as he closes the distance between them? The few, the proud, the emotional.. hullo Clancy The few, the proud.. that's us again, Tyler's crew So, just like way back when (this was during the 'blue is a sign of defeat, wear blue once and I'll stop tormenting your tormented fleet' (paraphrase) time period), Blurry has always loved f*cking with the Clique It's almost as if we have been the hostages this entire time Think about it, every era is another FPE meaning Then this time, the FPE letters Letters between Dema inmates; we are them! Tyler has always loved our relationships with each other He loves it when we help each other When we lean on each other It's probably a good portion of the reason he made this band was in order to build this community Because as this thing has grown, he and Josh can't stay up all night listening to these kids' problems anymore but if he could make a turnkey operation where the music helps us mainly when we are alone and we help each other when we get together for shows, he could go a long way towards creating a structure within which all of us has a way better chance at getting through as we grow into and then grow out of And then he is even arming us with super helpful advice for the next phase of our lives in Oldies Station I don't know where I am going with this Add something if you have it figured out by any chance please

i've always taken the "i'm a son of all i've done" from a christian perspective of he's a son of his sins and later in the song he talks about draining his dirty blood as in God washing his sins which also fits with the line been fostered as He has been adopted by Christ. that's my interpretation of it at least

The lore from tøp was the most significant added value for me, loving the band since I've heard car radio in 2014.. then Blurryface and Trench came out and God, did I pick a great band to follow closely.. 🥵❤

I've always found it interesting how Clancy is closest to Keons, the embodiment of the fear of repetition, and how Nico, being the fear of success, is the governor of all the other bishops. In a metafictional way, Tyler's been pointing at a lore fatigue for a while now, and in “Backslide” he just confirms what we knew - that he kinda wants it to end. “Running from a thing that I kicked in '17”. This, of course, after having started the Clancy Era with “I created this world/to feel some control/destroy it if I want”

Tyler does a lot of ego splitting, a cleaning. It's a plural spectrum / DID thing, a survival skill that people who are very traumatized find themselves doing. Even hiding it from themselves until it is revealed & they are safe enough to confront it.

I often feel this is true, as I have survived extreme trauma through DID and still today even. What I often wonder, in comparison to what I know I survived, is what was happening in his life that was so traumatic that his brain felt the necessity for protection enough to deviate from the origin (the first personality) ?

@amandagodkin3296 pain, generally. just a continous pain. mine is dysphoria which has been greatly alliviated but, I don't know what else could cause such a prolonged injury to sense of selves. Some sort of ritual abuse? Forced masking? all common themes. Various other traumatic things can happen and it doesn't have to a genderqueerness. I'm sure there are people who reach that point for various other reasons.
