Bretons definitely have a history of being divided, but when they do come together to defend High Rock, they're often underestimated.

Bretons are peaceful? I remember reading that they have a lot of infighting between the city states of high rock
@moongirl786
@moongirl786 6 жыл бұрын
I was just going to point that out lol, yeah you can't say they are incredibly peaceful and then talk about the many squabbling petty kingdoms; its not like all they do is yell at each other from their hilltops lol. And lets not forget the racism towards the orcs, and the constant attacks the Bretons have launched on Orsinium over the eras. Yeah they are not peaceful or boring, High Rock is political intrigue central
@TheExploringSeries

Relatively peaceful. If you look at all the other races and their histories, I'd rank Bretons among the more peaceful in regards to foreign policies.
@moongirl786
@moongirl786 6 жыл бұрын
Ok, maybe in regards to foreign policy between High Rock and the other provinces, but foreign policy between the kingdoms within High Rock? Not so much. And if you think about it, the majority of any population, in the real world and Elder Scrolls, is going to be farmers in a non-industrial agricultural society, like how the majority of Nords are farmers, with the rest being divided up amongst the trades, town guards, and finally, Imperial/Stormcloak soldiers. Its similar with the Norse in real life; the majority were peaceful farmers, not Viking raiders, but they had a culture that valued warfare and conquest. Personally, I think the way you said it in this video gives a false impression is all, but generally I love the series and your other stuff, especially on the Cthulhu mythos :)

Exactly. I haven’t played as Bretons much, but I decided I would make my Elder Scrolls 6 character a Breton from a Reachmen tribe because they are similar to Celtic tribes and since I have Irish ancestry.

The wyress covens in ESO are interesting. They're the closest thing to druids. I hope they return in TES6 and their lore is expanded. Perhaps make it possible to join the faction, but only on a female character. A reachmen faction would be great as well.

So a game set in High Rock would be the most "Medieval" elder scrolls type of game. Skyrim was Viking, Cyrodill was roman, Morrowind was more Native American. I find it cool how each province is very different. Meaning that TES has the ability to give a new experience each game. I'd love a province that gives a more victorian or even modern setting. Maybe a Dwemer province can give a FPS setting, that would be cool as hell. Hammerfell might be a more indian/african fantasy feel. Blackmarsh would be a Pre historic fantasy. Valenwood would have that nature fantasy setting. Elsyer could have a more avatar tribal setting. I'd also love a province that will give a more tropical beach fantasy setting. Summerset isle would give that high fantasy feel. The closest thing to a pirate feel was redguard. Could you imagine a TES Travels/legends remake remasters? A Shadowkey/Battlespire/Redguard remake. Shadowkey being the more traditional elder scrolls gameplay to enjoy. Battlespire having that dungeon crawler, dark souls gameplay. And Redguard having that action adventure, assassins creed/witcher gameplay. 3 different style elder scrolls game remade with today's graphics in 1 game.

I know this sounds a bit early, but here are some suggestions to some franchises I think would be very good for the Exploring series: -The Scp Foundation: this is great for the Exploring series, most people talk about the SCPs themselves, but I rarely see people talk about other aspects of it universe, such it’s researchers & scientists, rival organization against the foundation, paranormal locations and further detail on the role of Class-D. If you love stuff like Lovecraft, than this world is for you. Doctor Who: While not a huge fan, it has plenty of material to work with given its strange history and world The Legend of Zelda: It has great amount of mystery and lore, perfect for the series
@TheExploringSeries
@TheExploringSeries 6 жыл бұрын
+TheFVguy I've been a fan of the SCP universe for years. The reason you don't see many people discussing things besides SCPs is because there's no accepted canon for anything. Anybody can make up anything for the site in regards to protocols, d-class, the o5s, and so on.
@thefvguy5648
@thefvguy5648 6 жыл бұрын
+TheExploringSeries That is true, though the same can be kind of said with the Cuthulu Mythos, as similar to SCP, Lovecraft never really cared for continuity and wanted his universe to be control of over writers as well.

Getting into the elder scrolls series for a few months now.. I'm guessing Bretons are the Englishmen of Tamrial or something?
@jaernihiltheus7817
@jaernihiltheus7817 6 жыл бұрын
They're kinda like the medieval Europeans (Englishmen included) of Tamriel, yeah. Redguards are the Middle Easterners/Caribean pirates... But with Stonewizards (basically Earthbenders) and Swordsingers (basically Jedi without the ability to shoot lightning out of their hands). Khajiits are the gypsies/Egyptians. Bosmer are the typical wood elves you see in fantasy - except they eat people... And have WereVultures... And can turn into 2+ story unstoppable rabid nightmare-furries. Nords are... Well... Norse. Imperials are Greko-Romans, but they also have moth-cults and WereLions. Dunmer are Assyrians, but with 1000 year old wizards living in Mushroom-treehouses and honorable warriors living in the hollowed out shells of giant crabs. Altmer seem to be very asian inspired, but they also live in floating glass cities and castles made out of coral. And so on.

@jaernihiltheus7817
@jaernihiltheus7817 6 жыл бұрын
Basically. Though what a Dragonbreak is lorewise is when some shit goes down involving a tower & it's stone (in Daggerfall's case it's the Adamantium Tower and the Mantella) that alters the course of history. Essentially the event is so powerful & the various timelines it creates are so drastically different that it causes time to break: making time collapse in on itself and all those timelines fold into 1 singular new timeline where *everything* happens at the same time. So instead of either: One of either the Kingdoms of Daggerfall, Wayrest, or Sentinel uses the Numidium to conquer the Iliac Bay. King Gortwog of Orsinium uses the Numidium to march to the Imperial CIty and prove that Orcs are NOT the uglier evolutionary cousins of Goblins but are, in fact, Elves too and thus deserve citizenship just like the other living elven races. Mannimarco The King of Worms, siphons the Numidium's god-like power to become a god. The Underking (Zurin Arctus, Tiber Septim's Battlemage & right hand man along with Tiber's dragon bff Nafaalilargus) uses the Numidium's power to kill himself, as he'd been cursed to never die; When he dies his soul combines with other famous figures in history that had also taken the "Talos of Atmora" moniker becoming Talos: Hero God of Man. The Blades agent: Lady Brisienna, hands the Numidium over to Uriel Septim the VII (yes, the same one that gets shanked in the beginning of Oblivion). Uriel uses the Numidium to cease the warring of the Iliac Bay, or else. And The Agent (you the player) tries to wield the Numidium him/herself, of course you don't have Septim blood running through your veins, so the power kills you. (This ending was cut, though you can still access a crashy version of it through debugging tools. Nevertheless it's still canon as the lore states that the Agent was "never seen again, presumed dead".) Because of the Dragonbreak, all of that shit happens. Mannimarco becomes a god, you die, Orcs begin to be treated like people too (albeit begrudgingly so), The Underking becomes Talos the *official* 9th Divine (before the end of Daggerfall there were only 8), Sentinel, Daggerfall, and Wayrest gain massive amounts of territory, and The Emperor forces the three to get along.

Vatroslav Morbidović in Skyrim High elves are perfect for wizards. All the magic starts out higher, and you get that extra 50 magika, as well as the ability to rapid regen magika once a day. As someone who played a pure duel casting caster; this ability is clutch as hell in major boss fights. Skyrim also dropped the elemental weaknesses I believe, though even if they existed, use of defensive spells off set the weaknesses, plus enchanting. In my experience in Skyrim, casters tend to be uncommon, save for bosses. Bretons are nice, but I prefer my altmer.

Hmm I always thought of the timeline for the Bretons to be. Native humans subdugated by Elves, enslaved and what not. Nordic Invasion of northern Tamerial frees the humans from the Elves. Nords found thier major cities. As the Nordic power subsides, The Direnni high elf family reconquers High Rock. Does not re-enslave humans, just take position as thier kings, intergrating human and the half elven into a strict social hierachy. "Bretons" that refuse to be reconquered head for the hills become the Reachmen. The Direnni lose too many of thier number fighting the Alessian order wars and are soon over run by the humans. They leave but the social hieracy and much of the culture remains.

No bretons are celts. Bretons are even real people. They were Irish Scottish Welsh celts who fled being killed by English to france

@@IrishMediaFreak The Bretons (the native people of Brittany) were not Irish or Scottish, they spoke a Brythonic language, and migrated from modern-day Cornwall to Northwest France (Brittany) during the Roman occupation of Britain.

it says in the game that they're talented in magic, trading, and mercantilism. also, he even said that some races can describe bretons as being boring, so what's your point?
