I know I really didn't cover alot of the stranger side of Vivec, especially the contents of the 36 lessons, but I think this is a decent overview.

Technically, it'd be a meteorite. Difference being, a meteorite is a meteor that successfully enters the atmosphere without shattering completely and manages to strike the ground. Was Vivic City destroyed by the impact or the volcanic eruption of Red Mountain? If it was the former, then there was likely a decent amount of metal (Fe in most cases) inside its core, rather than simple rock and minerals.

Its Michael Kirkbride's writing your referring to. He wrote some of the most interesting lore in the series. He clearly took a lot of inspiration from hp lovecraft. He also has some good elder scrolls universe books but some of his writings can't really be considered cannon. He came up with the idea of the elder scroll universe all being a dream of a higher being called the godhead. It's pretty much the reason you have a chance to zero-sum when achieving chim. To achieve Chim you have to partially wake up from reality basically becoming a god but if you fully wake up from reality you zero-sum and will blink out of existence cause you fully woke up from a dream that isn't yours. Its similar to Azathoth from hp lovecraft.

With Morrowind, Todd Howard himself said their plan was to go for a, “stranger in a strange land” feel to the game. In my opinion, I think they need to bring that back in The Elder Scrolls VI. Oblivion and Skyrim were both great but felt too relatable to common fantasy, for example, the towns/cities all had more of a European feel to them like Vikings in Skyrim or the Roman Empire in regards to the Imperial Legion in Oblivion, very cliche fantasy settings. Morrowind stood out much more to me because of the landscape, the unique plants and animals and most importantly, the architecture and culture of the Dark Elves has always been very original to me.

You left out a lot of important information, or had some information incomplete: -Vivec was born from a mix of a Chimer woman and a Dreugh -The three advisors swore to Azura, which makes their breaking the oath that much more serious -Dagoth Ur was not called that at the time, his name was Voryn Dagoth of House Dagoth -Vivec banished Azura by utilizing CHIM, a state of existence only achieved by him and the enantiomorphic entity Talos - You barely talked about anything from the Sermons. The only things you mentioned from it was his youth and his fights with the Daedric Princes -I'm pretty sure the Ghostfence had some importance as well

*In the lore:* Has a spear made out of his dick and can slay avatars of gods with it. Has unlimited power called CHIM, which is often used to retcon the series to fit the game and character or to shape entire landmasses. Basically an "I win" button. *In the actual game:* Throws one fireball with an oversized hit box, then attempts to punch you until you inevitably kill him with your daedric weapons. Growls like a wolf for some reason. Can be soul trapped for some reason too. Probably the same reason unarmored skill only works if you have one piece of armor.

ReZaHydra Nope. OP is talking of the Sermons. Vivec married Molag Bal (possibly raped? Some say so, others consider it consensual....?), had children, caught Molag's dick off, turned his dick into a spear called Muatra, killed his children with the weaponized dick- I mean spear-, and... banished... Azura......? Muatra was Vivec's main weapon for a while, I guess, too? Some interpret the Sermons not literally, and vice versa, but either way, nope, he didn't get it mixed up.

I think vivec achieved chim, so there is the mortal vivec's life and the god vivec's life. Like the mortal talos and the god talos had different lives (chim allows history to be altered by the new deity) for example the mortal talos will have known a cyrodil covered with jungles, on achieving chim he retroactively removed the jungles from the timeline, so he made it so they had never been there. I think achieving chim, combined with the poetic and weird person that he is, resulted in his god-life being poetic and weird as well.

What are the sources to Vivec's youth in this video? I was aware of the hermaphrodite implication to his character, but I was under the impression that this was a product of his ascension to divinity, at his choosing...reflecting the dichotomy of Chimer Vs Dunmer aspects, in both his people and himself. After all, is it an accident that he is literally split down the middle by both Chimer and Dunmer characteristics? This gender and racial dichotomy are reflected in both his symbolic rape of Azura with Muatra (symbolic of his male aspect) and his sexual surrender (of his HEAD) to Molag Bal (symbolic of his female aspect). Obviously, none of these themes are simplistic in the least, but I don't know if his origin story is as simple as saying, "He was born a hermaphrodite..." I think, at the very least, he was either manifested, or manifested HIMSELF through the act of CHIM, to impact TWO (dual) of the most powerful (and dualistic) daedra in existence, in order to enact change. After all, isn't the very nature of CHIM to alter the very temporal EXISTENCE of reality, both presently and retroactively? So I propose that Vivec, following both his apotheosis to divinity and the split of his race from Chimer to Dunmer (enacted by Azura, herself) was to become the very symbol of what Azura had done to his race. He essentially preformed CHIM in order to make an example of Azura's transgression on his race, by making himself the symbol of that transgression, while meanwhile punishing her for it... And his status as a hermaphrodite was also a product of his CHIM (made both presently and retroactively), in order to rape Azura as a male (*representation of the CHIMer punished by her*) and his offering of his people's influence/confluence to Molag Bal, with his now female aspect (*representation of Dunmer reaping reward from Molag Bal*) in gaining MUATRA and his power that he conveyed on the now Dunmer people.

No opinion on the fact that CHIM changes reality in the past, present and future? Thus making Vivec retroactively a hermaphrodite in a willing representation of the dichotomy of his race... There's a lot of lore I'm addressing in my comment. Any thoughts? I'm not so much saying you're wrong, as engaging you, an uploader of TES lore. Wondering if you have specific interpretations of your own? As usual, with TES lore, there are always many and more complex interpretations of the stories presented. Many under the surface or more than meets the eye. Especially when it comes to Morrowind lore, given the master-level fantasy elements at play and on display. I was first introduced to your channel with your Lovecraft lore videos, which I'm a big fan of. I'm just curious if you find any validity in Vivec's WILLING choice of his physical characteristics and actions in being a living representation of the Chimer/Dunmer folk, and giving consideration to his acquisition of Muatra from Molag Bal (from offering his "Head") and his use of CHIM and Muatra in raping/smiting Azura? I don't think there's any doubt he willingly chooses to appear both Chimer on one side of his body and Dunmer on the other... Thus, it might be safe to assume, he made his hermaphrodite qualities in conjunction/concurrence with these other dualistic features. All being achieved through his apotheosis and use of CHIM. (Also, I don't think there's just a coincidence in the name CHIM and the people's name Chimer.)
@TheExploringSeries
@TheExploringSeries 6 жыл бұрын
I mean, Vivec is certainly filled with representations of duality, of both the Chimer/Dunmer people and mortal/god. I know that he retroactively changed history so that he had always been a god, but to be honest, that's quite a bit to take in. That being said, that interview is apparently from a universe prior to Vivec becoming a god. If I had to say, I'd say he was born a hermaphrodite as a mortal, which helped shape his identity.

I think he might've meant in the main series of Elder Scrolls, since he did show a picture of ESO Vivec at least once so he's aware-- and he'd be right in that, I think. Other than the Dragonborn DLC, they weren't touched upon too much in either Oblivion or Skyrim, which makes sense due to what happened in Morrowind but I just wish there was more on the circumstances of Vivec's disappearance.

To truly know someone is as much a curse as it is a blessing...he also suffers a kind of enslavement. Not unlike my own, in fact. Beauty holds the keys to his shackles. Beauty, and a love of great works. Great heights. His appetites are insatiable, thus his despair...a poet's despair. Vivec craves radical freedom - the death of all limits and restrictions. He wishes to be all things at all times. Every race, every gender, every hero, both divine and finite... but in the end, he can only be Vivec." -Sotha Sil

It's of Nerevar meeting Vivec when he was a prostitute, and Vivec makes multiple allusions to being intersex. Depending on how he felt about his past, I'd say that's one of his possible lies written in his sermons (abt being born intersex or after absorbing the heart). (Edit: What My Beloved Taught Me, it's called. Vivec calls himself a "whelp-wench in (his) unders", and when Nerevar asks him the difference between men and women, he responds, "there is no difference with me.")

I wish the series would return to the strangeness of Morrowind & the earlier entries. I killed Vivec in Morrowind in one playthrough, meaning that I'd killed 2 of the tribunal & Sotha Sil was dead at Almalexia's hand. While Morrowind was my 1st TES game when I was 13 years old, my favorite was Daggerfall. Arena was fun too, but very unrefined as it was the 1st game. In Morrowind, I became highly immersed, reading every book, learning all the lore and such. It was sad to me when Oblivion and Skyrim didn't have nearly as many readable books or as much mystical stuff present. I greatly enjoyed creating large mods based on lore to expand on the game, letting players play through events mentioned in books. Those were fun times.

Lore Hiccup: Vivec was something of a hermaphrodite, but Vehk probably wasn't as a mortal. Vehk's mortal backstory is likely different than Vivec the god's backstory, because of manipulation of events and CHIM; Vivec was Chimer and Dunmer because he was "Vehk and Vehk", and simultaneously Vivec, the god, who was loyal to Indoril Nerevar, and Vehk the mortal, who murdered Indoril Nerevar with the other conspirators within the Tribunal. Its possible to consider Vivec as something of a living Dragon Break.

When the dragon break happen it's possible he even became a god in some other reality. He had a massive impact on the world and it all ended in a lame battle in oblivion that made him look like a joke. You don't even see him in lich form. The best characters are Wulfharth, Zurin Arctus and Hjalti early-beard/Tiber septim but the lore around them is a mess as it involves the warp in the west and a ton of conflicting reports. According to the lore of the warp in the west all possible outcomes simultaneously became reality meaning at least in some reality mannimarco became a god turning himself into a planet called the Necromancer's Moon. Which is odd cause that seems to be the same planet you see in oblivion
