Exploring Exotic Tangier and History of Cádiz | Oceania Iberia, Morocco & France, Ep 3.

Welcome to Episode 3 of our Iberia, Morocco & France Vlog series with Oceania.
Our 6-part series (+ a full ship tour walkthrough, and room tour) was filmed over 14 nights, during our cruise aboard Oceania Vista from Barcelona to Southampton, August 2023, where visited Spain, Morocco, Portugal and France (the itinerary heavily focused on the Iberian region), on our way to Southampton England.
This episode covers Tangier, Morocco and Cádiz, Spain.
THE SERIES DOCUMENTS
Barcelona (where we spent a week exploring pre-cruise, largely focusing on Gaudí, a 1908 music hall, and the Zoo);
Malaga (where we explore Alcazaba Fortress);
Tangier (where we visited Cap Spartel, the Hercules Cave and wandered the Casbah);
Cadiz (where we visited Castillo de Santa Catalina and the waterfront);
Lisbon (where we toured Belem Tower, Discoveries Monument, and Praça do Comércio);
Porto (where we toured the historic center and a Port wine lodge) ;
La Coruña (where we visited Tower of Herculee - the operational 1st century Roman lighthouse, and toured the local marina);
Bilbao (where we visited the iconic Guggenheim Museum, Artxanda Park for a sweeping view of the city, and toured the Old Quarter);
Bordeaux (where, on an overnight, we visited the Place des Quinconces - the home of French Revolution monuments, toured the vlilage of Saint Emilion - touring a wine château, and back aboard, took part in Oceania’s Culinary program - learning to make desserts.

You certainly took us to an Arabian escape by visiting Tangier. I felt I was there with you. Cardia was amazing as well. The photo exhibition was nice to see as well. I hope you enjoyed the whiskeys, I've done macallan tasting on board a ship before. Wasn't my favourite whiskey. Ps. Thanks for playing some traditional Greek music in your vlog 😂

Glad you enjoyed it, Arthur! Tangier was absolutely amazing, it’s hard to describe it, but it all just works and it’s lovely. I thought you might pick up on the music 😂. I used multiple Arabian tracks in this one, but given the beat of that particular set of scenes, and what I had left to work with, the Greek one in that sequence seemed to be the best choice. Nothing gets by you 🤣

Had a port stop in Cadiz in 2019 (ship: Nieuw Statendam). Booked a trip which will take us back there in Fall, 2024 (the Oceania Vista, as it happens). That will also get us to the Atlantic coast of Morocco (first time). Beautiful video - especially liked seeing the squares and monuments of Cadiz, and the white buildings of Tangier. When you want a change from cruising, i have a land experience to recommend: a week in Seville, Spain with easy day trips to Cordoba (by train) and Granada (by tour bus). Much to see that will remind you of this trip, only more so. Make it worth the long flight by adding on Madrid - which for a European capital, isn't that expensive.

Have a great time on Vista next year ! I’m glad you enjoyed this episode. We had a wonderful time in Africa, and this trip in general. Land touring of Spain would be amazing, and as it happens, we are going to Madrid for the first time in 2024, for four days in between cruises. I won’t put too much out publicly (you can email for more, lol), but 2026 is a rather significant year for us, and we may very well do a great deal of land touring with the odd cruise thrown in 😊 As ever, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! Funny seeing those people using an long extension ladder, set at an 80° angle, to presumably climb up to trim a palm tree, when my wife doesn't even want to trust me climbing a five-step step ladder without her clinging on to it for her (and my) dear life! 😂

@InnocentsAbroad I do indeed like the history. A lot of the excursions we take are to see ancient ruins. It strikes me to see these places today to wonder how movie makers are able to film period pieces that seem to take place in past centuries, like the Horacio Hornblower A&E movies, for example.
