Ohhhhh so many memories... i remember when i was younger before i started flipping my family's furniture in my nice heated workshop, i tried restoring my dad's old hot wheels in the dark dusty badly lit cat hair filled basement. Used brushes and paper towels to apply water based paint/gloss (my parents didn't trust me with a sprayer) after hand sanding the crap out of them, and somehow after like 3 years of practice and repainting i was able to make them look not smeary and could hardly see any brush strokes i admire your patience so much keep up the great work, and i'm sure you'll find that finished shine we all try for:)

Gorgeous job! I used Advance to paint a bookshelf and nearly lost my mind between the dry times and fighting the dust. I love Benajamin Moore self leveling cabinet paint. It looks better than sprayed on chalk paint. Your projects always turn out stunning. This will as well. There is a young man from Canada that did a project with a high gloss laquer. It looked like a mirror. His channel is called Modern Makeovers. He is detail oriented like yourself. I think high gloss is very rich looking, certainly is very pricey. Have you tried a high density cabinet and door roller by Whizz?
@salvagedbykscott6 ай бұрын
Yes, I mentioned Andy from Modern Makeovers in this video. He was able to get his hands on some legit lacquer for his black cabinet but it still put up a fight. I haven’t ever seen Whizz rollers in shops here in Canada but the ones I chose are similar and meant for gloss paints.

This was a great makeover. I probably will never try this technique. But it was great watching you and learning about it. There is one retailer in town that sells a really expensive paint that's glossy like that. He has approached me about doing some pieces for him. I don't think I have the patience for it. LOL> Also.. really like that blue color.

When I saw this title, I thought to myself, I could have done with this video last week, as I just painted my bed in a high gloss cream paint, and which I found a nightmare to work with. Then I saw the finish you were trying to achieve, and I thought, Oh, THAT kinda high gloss finish!! 😮😬😂 Mine was certainly nowhere near that kinda shiny! 😂🤣 Great job Katie, that took great patience. I reckon with the correct flat surfaced piece you would have it looking as good as the pros. Very impressive. 👏🏻❤️
