I was at the IEC Spark in Dallas last month and the one thing I took from the Expo floor was the need for Energy Management Systems. This is definitely the future along with smart circuit breakers. Was kind of hoping to see the Span booth but they weren't there. Dustin, I did see you there but you were busy recoding something with the ABB people sat there truck display. I didn't want to interrupt you so I left to catch the Closing Keynote in the auditorium. Maybe next time! Thanks for the video brother!

The one thing I want to see is about air conditioning. AC takes a lot of electricity. For people in the south solar isn’t a great solution cuz it’s still expensive and our AC systems basically run 24/7 so what other solutions are out there that’s cost effective, and energy efficient to run like a 5 ton unit 24/7
@gage5899 Жыл бұрын
Vfd to control the speed of the compressor to match the cooling demand so the air conditioner isn’t turning on and off constantly which saves electricity and extends the life of the compressor

What trade shows exist in New York City or near New York City that are for electricians? If you could recommend some, I would greatly appreciate it.

Schneider Electric Pulse is a great product. Splitting the busbars from critical to as-needed ensures critical loads are covered under the UPS. Right?

I can’t find the episode where you determined the length of wire on a spool by using resistance on a meter and applying the formula. ( I promise to write it down this time ) Thanks for your help.

Hello, not sure of proper way to ask a question on one of your year old videos, but here goes. I just watched 2 hots on one netural, I have a question. If i have a 3 wire circuit going to two different plugs, you said they are now 220 volts so if i plug a 110 devices in to either or both plugs will it burn the device out because the 110 device are on a 220 circuit.
@EvanButlerAlckatras Жыл бұрын
If it's hot A going to plug A, and hot B going to plug B, you still only have 120 volts at each location between your hot and neutral. So long as there isn't any crossover both outlets are fine for regular use, they just share the neutral wire. There are some stipulations to running circuits like that, but you can do it.

I hope they have good devs that take connected devices security serious.

On top of that hope they don't abandon the server's for it in 5 years and make it into a dumb panel you payed extra for. Consumer electronics have a bad track record of this from companies bigger than Schneider so I have a hard time recommending something like this without a promise for long term support.

How much more for the Square D safety switch with the window. We got a price for 4 to 6" round windows on 13.2 switchgear a few years ago. Think they were over $400 each!. Wish lazy corner cutting contractors would install a NC micro switch on every load side of VFD'S. Twice had a serviceman blow out a running drive by turning off the safety switch on output side. One even had a P touch label stating to only use drive touch screen to turn drive in & off.

Solar can make absolute sense these days, but location and orientation of panels are critical. If you have a south facing roof in San Diego, no brained. If you have a north facing roof in Vermont, yes it’s bs. One critical thing though, do you really want these racks drilling big holes through your roof and having to dismantle everything in q0 years or less when comes time to replace roof? I’d go with standing seam metal where brackets just clip,in to the seam of the roof.

I shocked by how willing everyone is to connect their houses to "Smart Controllers" nevermind the obvious security issues, what happens when the manufacturer abandons the product or starts requiring monthly maintenance fees? What happens when mandatory load shedding for the "greater good" becomes a thing? It's already happeded with smart thermostats. Just wait people...

Dustin, this is a little late, but I thought this observation might someday be appreciated. You have tons of superb instructional content in your videos, and sometimes your hand gestures add visual interest and aid understanding. Alas, too often arm and hand motions can look like pointless flailing and wild gyrations -- but serving no purpose other than a distraction from the quality of otherwise excellent presentations. I'm not suggesting you become a Mike Holt clone presenter, but if you could cut down on some of the excessive arm and hand gestures, you videos would more closely reflect the knowledgeable and skilled professional that you are.
