I literally JUST listened to this podcast for the first time tonight while I was cooking in the kitchen, and it profoundly affected me when the city clerk retold hearing him commit suicide while on the phone! How awful for her, poor woman! Now, fast forward several years later, and his "son" Tyler has now been killed by police while on his own property. Absolutely heartbreaking. Depression is a b****. I struggle with it myself. John's life made me think of the show "Sherlock" where he laments that his intelligence forces him to spend life seemingly stuck in a bowl full of goldfish who can't, and will never, understand him. I wonder if John watched the series and thought similarly. RIP John and Tyler.

Some people don't realize just how difficult depression is. How it works on you. Whether it's situational or chemical it really tears you up. I'd never heard of John before but my heart hurts for his family and friends. I hope you're doing well and that you're having a great day. Miss seeing Lakota. Hope she's doing good too. Have a great day.

I'm happy to see that you are feeling better. It's amazing what a little time off can do to restore yourself. You have to put yourself first because noone else knows what you need more than you do.The videos are great but not worth wrecking your health over. Stay safe and strong and remember to put yourself first. ❤❤

Beautifully put. Watching videos like this are fantastic but they would take a toll on you guys, especially such a poignant place as this one. KZbin is a relentless monster with respect to people wanting content but that takes so much effort and commitment to make, you are not an endless well. Take care of yourselves and stay well.

My cousin Tyler Goodson from the podcast that everyone loved... S-town.. was murdered by police last night. I can't believe this happened. I love you and miss you Tyler.

What happened?
@Capt_Caveman205 Жыл бұрын
@thamuzkilo you've probably seen it on the news since then but there was a 911 call for a "domestic situation " and then there was a stand off. They said that he came outside brandishing a weapon and was shot. Out of respect for the rest of my family im not going to go into what i think was going on but this is a really heartbreaking situation. He was such a great guy and everyone loved him so much. And he was such a good father. I really feel for those kids and his sister and brother. He touched alot of ppl all over the world and he will be very missed.

The coolest thing about John B is he was a genius and an eccentric and funny all at once type of guy. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to everything he spoke about and amazed at how vast his extensive knowledge was on every plant he grew. It’s been over 6-7yrs since l listened to his podcast and to date he is still in my thoughts ❤

Such a shame it's all been left to ruin. It's hard to imagine what a beautiful place this was looking at this video but when you see pics back in 2010 or so it's breathtaking. That thunderbird must have been his mother's since new I've discovered pics of him standing in front of it as a child. Sad all round for everyone involved. Rip

One thing I just have to recommend is, bringing a respirator with you, just atleast have it to put on if you see any black mold in these houses. If the cousins were decent people, they would have given Tyler and his brother a share of John’s estate. John clearly expressed his wishes in the podcast, in his own words. A goodwill gesture of 15% would have made a huge difference to Tyler’s family.
