Thank you Carrie for bringing to light the tragic story of the formation of the Kaptai lake. A terrible injustice was done to the native Chakma population. Since it took place during the Pakistani period, most Bangladeshis today are unaware of the event. A visit to the Kaptai lake must include supporting the people as you have done in this wonderful video.
@carriepatsalis

I really feel that despite the fact it happened via the east Pakistan government, something should be done now to compensate them.. it shouldn’t just be forgotten
@markinboy
@markinboy Жыл бұрын
@@carriepatsalis Agreed completely. Let's hope more Bangladeshis learn about this. Then pressure may grow widely to have the government of the day to pay compensation to the Chakma people. Pakistan will never come forward with anything. Also please note that there was no East Pakistani government. All power and decision making rested in West Pakistan.

Most tourists visiting the Kaptai Lake either are unaware of, or turn a blind eye to the tragic history that lies beneath the beauty of the lake. Even the Chakma King's Royal Palace got totally submerged. During some very dry seasons now, portions of the palace, especially some of its spires can be seen protruding out of the water. Thank you, for bringing that dark history to the fore! And what a wonderful way it was, to talk about the history and use paintings of an indigenous painter to make it so visual. Rather interestingly though, even with such a sad and cruel loss, the Chakma people are still very friendly and welcoming to outsiders. If you show them respect, they will show you respect manifolds more! By the way, love your videos more because of the witty little jokes you pull off so subtlely. From the hollow sound of a water melon, to compare that with your brain, because of a lack of caffeine! Oh man, was that funny!l!

It seemed incredible that this lake once belonged to the Chakmas. So the desolation and all the lost Chakmas seemed more impressive than the uniqueness of the place. It was visible in their changed appearance. But the beauty of the place in your video was really amazing!!

@@carriepatsalis whatever happened is very unfortunate and the current generation has nothing to with it surely. So stop this nonsense. Your videos are surely gonna contribute to communal tensions between the Bengalis and Chakmas; many if whom have already joined Terrorist Organizations that are killing our Brave Soldiers on a Daily Basis. You are the Problem here. Leave my country before continuing your agenda here any further. What youve done here punishable by the Bangladeshi Law. So leave if you dont wanna end up in jail yoy Hatemonger.

Your story telling skills are so nice that I already watched this video 3 times. Being a Bangladeshi, I was fascinated by the panoramic beauty of Kaptai Lake in your eyes. Most foreign tourists cannot discover the beauty of Bangladesh as you do. So I named you "Bangladesher Bondhu" (Friend of Bangladesh). I strongly believe you can be a very good writer and documentary maker. INSHA ALLAH someday I will meet you and that day I will be able to speak in fluent English with you. ❤💚 Oh forgot to mention, your vlogs are on such a big canvas that I always like to watch them on TV. *Good to see you eating with your hand. Top tip: Always eat curry with some rice so that you dont feel the "too spicy" or "too hot", like when you tasted the smashed banana flower curry - it would have tasted better if you tasted it with some rice. Sidenote: Food eating vlogs are very popular in BD, try to make a (or, some) video on - Top 10 food a foreigner should try first after arriving in Bangladesh. Your review will be more trustworthy as you are a foreigner. Dazzle the newcomers.* Thanks from Germany.
