Love seeing this video right after i brewed my first landfall deck! I've been on a hiatus from the game since ixalan but I've wanted to build a lands edh deck ever since i saw legacy lands in action. I noticed that a lot of key enablers got reprints or budget alternatives over the years so i decided to finally put one together, but i didn't know the deck also acquired a nasty reputation over that time.

5:41 I think this point has changed quite a bit in recent times due to several fetch effects being introduced. I'm running 7 fetches in my Aesi list, and only one of them is a nonbasic one. That said, the deck is only 2 colors. Part of the reason I never built 4 color Omnath is its inherent issue of requiring a solid landbase of flexible lands, which goes directly against including basics to grab with green ramp spells and/or more affordable fetches. Of course you _can_ include all the legal fetches and shocks, but I don't really see a point in acquiring a much more expensive landbase for what I consider to be an objectively inferior commander (from the perspective of someone who's playing to win).

I'd love to see this updated with the new thunder junction set in mind. Maybe a sacrifice land focus to pair with the Landfall. There are so many new lands coming out with Modern Masters 3 as well that would be interesting to discuss.

Kinda new to mtg and making a landfall deck. What are some thoughts on Tatyova vs Aesi as commanders? I'm currently using Aesi.

I think aesi is a little better. 2 cards a turn!

@@ivogclan7033 that's how I felt but I keep seeing Tatyova as the poster child for blue green landfall.

whichever one you play, have the other one ride along in the 99. see how you feel when you get both of them in play and drop a few lands. kiss kiss. ;P

Tatyova is stronger since she comes down a turn earlier, but both are very strong

Unless you're running some Golgari/Jund Reanimator Landfall, I'd recommend looking at effects like Ancient Greenwarden and Walk-In Closet instead. Milling yourself puts strong cards into the graveyard, where they might be hard to access in decks that otherwise don't involve any grayeward play. Furthermore, it opens up another heel in the form of graveyard hate, something that is otherwise avoidable (almost) entirely by Landfall decks. Same with Oracle of Mul Daya. I think people give this card way too much nostalgic credit because it _used_ to be one of the few extra land play effects. Revealing all cards you draw to the opposition is absolutely terrible. There are much, much better effects you can play instead nowadays. Dryad of the Ilysian Grove, Case of the Locked Hothouse and Wayward Swordtooth are all easily superior choices.

Against the Landfalldeck of my bro I just don't let the commander get onto the field ( removal, counter spells, )
