I'm surprised they closed that prison down. It looked like it was in very good condition. The state is always crying that the prisons are overpopulated but they close down prisons instead of hiring new personal. Adding counselors and a variety of program's for these inmates just might help prepare them for release. Nice video and nice to see you two again.

Kind of depressing to see a prison, abandoned or otherwise especially having spent some time in one. Been 10 years since my release and these images still bring back feelings of helplessness and despair. I thank God and value my freedom each and every day!

Never saw the inside of a prison n don't intend to at 67. Can't imagine what it would be like being confined to small spaces. I wonder how often they had to push the panic buttons? Awesome vid guys, love the camera work! Scared me straight LOL Thanx

You got some really great industrial kind of shots in here, which I LOVE. Particularly where that railing angle takes the shape of a ship’s prow. I quite enjoy explores where you have room to really compose a shot with perspective. Your editing is wicked these days, just masterfully handled all round. I enjoyed this one because of the way you filmed the different parts of it, each with a slightly different feel to it. Its in really good shape, but feels so impersonal and cold for a place so many people once lived. Thanks for sharing your talents with us, as always...you rocked it. 🖤🇨🇦

@ Tamarra James- You haven't lived until you get cuffed to that lovely cement block for 4-5 hours with other inmates, while the guards do who knows what & then decide to load you onto a bus for no reason other than to say they need money for transporting you to unknown destinations. Fraud at it's finest.

Sherry Dee ; To be honest, I think I would much prefer to forego that little life experience if its all the same to you. I spent many years visiting Ontario provincial prisons and Federal ones counselling and listening to the inmates problems and concerns. I was part of an oversight body who, in agreement with 3 divisions of the government did regular assessments of the quality of care given in our institutions. We also assessed old age homes, mental facilities, and some hospitals as well as prisons. These experiences led me to understand that confinement and punishment do not lower recidivism rates...new solutions are needed, and much of Europe are way ahead of us on that front. I’m so sorry if you or a loved one were subjected to the kind of treatment you describe. 🖤🇨🇦

Pacific Northwest thank you, its way too easy to become part of the problem, or to ignore what one doesn’t see. Unfortunately this approach of only caring about what directly affects the self leads to a world that can dehumanize some of its people, and we all know where that leads. I just try to be the example of what I believe makes us all better people. Many small acts are often more important than a few big ones in my experience. I currently live in Toronto, but am from Victoria and Vancouver BC. I have visited your State and City often, and it is truly beautiful. I miss the West Coast. 🖤🇨🇦

Tamarra James Absolutely, I work with the Disability community and I do the best I can to make life as easy and fun as possible for others when I can. I’m an Aries so I’m a people pleaser. The older I get the better I learn on how to not let the ‘People pleaser’ mentality I have jeopardize my own happiness. You seem like a wonderful person 😊. Olympia WA

The intercom system was in every cell & the guards could listen whenever they wanted. We slapped wet toilet paper over the speaker whenever we wanted to have a private conversation & knew the guards would show up if we left it on there for too long. Those metal bunk corners were a constant source of head injuries for smart asses who couldn't keep their mouths shut. I saw enough to learn fast & never met a corner bunk! My cellie got wacked so many times, I doubt she's ever gonna play with a full deck again. Open doors in the day hours mean frequent visitors. Your cell is never your cell & your stuff is never safe from pilfering & scrutiny. Never keep photos or addresses of relatives unless you want them exposed to the same psychos that are on your mod & in your face. Taking a shower is when someone always ratfucks your stuff & collects info for future extortion.

@ Kathy Webb & Liz Cohen- I once got myself a 3 day extension on my stay from doing just what she did. It's a violation to place your hand on the glass in some places. They often make the rules up as they go, depending on the value of the inmates.

I hope that someday our jail/ prison system can figure out how to better rehabilitate the people within it. I understand that some only want in and out. But others are willing to use their time served as a way to better themselves and right their wrongs. I've seen both sides. But the will was their own and they had to find their own way. My heart goes out to all involved... inmates, guards, and their families. ♡

This looks to be a private prison complex, judging by the amount of money invested in the church and the grounds. Local police are "encouraged" to round up inmates to generate income for the owners and investors. I wouldn't doubt that the suicide was related to this issue. Imagine being locked up in that place as an innocent person or someone who made a petty mistake. I'm sure many were here on trumped up charges as well. This is a massively expensive complex and it's no good without "customers".

Awesome explore. I spent 5 years in a maximum security (I was one of the very few guilty people) but, abandoned prisons (including the one I spent my time in....which is also about to close) still fascinate me. Hint: The one I speak of is in Enfield, CT ( but will be very difficult to explore because all the surrounding prisons are still open) so, the best way to explore that facility is to catch a case. Lol. The Urban Archaeologist (AKA that arrogant, know-it-all SOB) BTW: The gymnasium footage reveals it's location.....

Hammond 1953'ish model M2. The M3, introduced in 1955' looked identical to the M2 except it had KEY-PERCUSSION (not to be confused with drum sounds) which was what finally allowed 'organ' to play jazz, funk, anything dynamically... it added a quick 'thump' attack at will, depending on key manipulation. The famed HAMMOND B3 is the big 4 legged version, and is/was played by anyone and everyone in bans. The M2 organ in this setting is straight up CHURCH ORGAN.

What's Really too bad is that we can't invest this kind of money into reform instead of locking people up like animals. This is not maximum security so the crimes people committed weren't that major. Cops are pushed to fill these jails by privatized prison owners.
