Yes, it's quite an adventure. We were glad we were able to make it but the road is definitely not passable during certain kinds of weather conditions. We felt blessed to be able to spend time there! Hope you also enjoyed your weekend.

Yes, and they don't even charge for this lighthouse. They probably figure if you make it down those crazy roads you've earned the chance to climb the tower. LOL

Makes sense to be cautious when you are by yourself, especially with no cell coverage. We've made a few questionable choices that almost got us stuck. We're being more cautious after that! So remote and then interesting to see the other trucks and people once there - seems surreal. Beautiful spot. Yeah, not sure I would go out on that walkway! Adding this to our list though! Thanks for sharing!

Yes, that's so true. You really do have to be careful because bad things happen to people when they simply throw caution to the wind and aren't prepared. We're definitely glad we were able to make it work this time but it's probably a good thing we turned around on our first attempt - even though I was super disappointed. LOL

Ok, I absolutely love the bakelite/retro looking microwave and coffee maker! Ah the exploration! I enjoy getting lost and seeing things that perhaps I wouldn't have in the process but my wife, not so much. She gets easily annoyed, at times with this. Can you imagine driving those roads with vehicles from our childhood or earlier? Distract me with questions and watch the road too? Great video guys. That lighthouse was the most unusual I've seen. Getting out onto the railing only to have it too small, yeah I'd be out there all of 2 seconds.

Yes, it's very remote. As rudimentary as that map was, it was essential for helping us make it without trying an impassible road. It was a fun (and a little scary) adventure!

Yes, we are lifelong Michiganders so the majority of our travel is right here in our home state. The goal is that we'll be able to begin taking more trips a bit further from home as well now that our sons are older. But we will still travel around Michigan, too, because there's so much beauty here. The next time you head this way let us know and we can point you to a video or two. :)
