I am trying to decide between hermod and rene mk2.....hermod appears to do a lot with the fx and live cv recording , chance, ratchet, etc...which could replace other modules

I don't have a Hermod but it looks really great. From what I can tell it's going to have more functionality but also perhaps be a bit more straightforward as a sequencer than the Rene. The Rene is great for doing unpredictable stuff because of its "Cartesian" nature, which I like, but not everybody does. It definitely seems more finicky and bit more wild and zany. Some people want a more easily programmable sequencer with more channels, for which the Hermod looks perfect. Plus it's got MIDI.

i think the sq1 is underrated, you can do weird and experimental things with it too, like run at much higher rate when syncing with square lfo or run audiosignal (doesnt even need amplifier) into sync in

I really appreciate these videos! What do you think about the idea of follow-up videos that are just you starting from scratch and messing around / trying to make a patch using your usual workflow while limiting yourself to using the techniques you showed off in the associated Beginner's Mind video? These beginners mind vids are great for understanding the concepts, but it would be really cool to see how you apply them in real time to make something.

Thanks for the comment and that's a great idea. I've had very limited time to do videos, but when I start up again I will try to do what you suggested. I also have an idea for another 2-3 videos explaining a few additional basic concepts.

That'd be awesome. Honestly, you could do it as a livestream to save on editing time, then upload the livestream as an easy way to put out vids. Much lower time commitment per vid. Like a live jam series alongside the beginners mind series. Just seeing modular musicians up close at work can teach a lot. Glad to hear there's more instructional content in the works too! You've been making some really good stuff.@@ModularLanding

Look interesting...i would still probably need one on one explaining if i got one as a lot of these terms went over my head, and all Modular Synths perform different.

Occupy My Life Thanks for the comment. I’ll try to explore some other basic concepts in future videos. Did you watch the first one-episode 0? What terms are still unfamiliar?
