trying to wrap my head around this .. looking at different doepfer VCA's and all i see are cv ins and outs no control ?? i do see an input that says selected not sure where to plug the gate from the keystep on those ones so i can play it

Gould was interesting but ahistorical....check out Scott Ross and the interviews on the Nikhil Hogan Show YT from ep 61 and newer...We know so much more about Bach since 2007 revelations (Books: Music in the Gallant Style or Art of Partimento) which many scholars and players go into on that show. You might love them. Nice job on the video!!

honestly next to SWN or the Squid Sampler this is probably My favorite Module, I had played with it on softubes Modular before i went full ''Mid life synthist'' and Married My equipment. The music scales alone included in this machine are genious, I have used this ONE MODULE for everything from a Parabolic EQ, to a remixer/it can even be used to change the entire pitch and transpose. I have seen set ups where two can be linked and function as one, although TBH most will have enough fun and exploration with one. shoot just sending the trigger outs from a 606, one can make quite a 'dope' little mix. Not to mention straight up the obvious the aesthetics are so good SWN is its twin, and yes i have both. Both of them can do this thing ( i have yet to do it, but you can like save info Through the power strip, with nothing but the power strip connected its a trip.) Excellent Mod, Great Video, Great example of how one can utilize it.

Thank you so much for doing this. Most people who make what they call a "beginner tutorial" haven't a clue what a beginner needs to hear. This was excellent. Most people immediately start talking in incomprehensible jargon, and you really define not only the terms but the basic functions that any setup needs to address (tone generation, control, pitch, etc.). It almost sounds like you're describing a hydraulic system -- the VCO is the water tank, the VCA is a valve, the controller is the valve controller, etc. I can actually relate to it. This is really golden. I'll probably still remain in the world of acoustic instruments, but at least now I have a vague grip on the basics of this strange alien planet.

This is the first time I felt like I understood modular. Thank you.

And thus the subtle distinction between keyboardist who plays piano, organ, and of course synthesizers with MIDI keyboards, and a synthesist who uses multiple controllers (touch pads, ribbons, and of course an ebony-and-ivory keyboard-probably with cv outs. I am of the latter stripe. I will never win a Chopin piano competition. I am fascinated with sound design using modular synthesizers, but have so-so keyboard skills.
