I just bought a 5 month old 4S cross turismo loaded with £26k of extras. List price £127k and I paid £67k. Insane. I love it and for £67k I can’t think of anything better. But as a £127k car it has some major deficiencies. The 3D surround camera is a joke. The park assist and remote parking rarely works. The interior is nice but not premium enough. However it’s sublime to drive especially nimble with rear axle steering. The ride is so comfortable, the feedback so confidence inspiring. Almost the perfect blend of sport and utility. It’s even pretty good off road.

I currently daily drive a 2019 BMW i3S. Excellent, and practical little car. Efficiency is outstanding. I am considering a Certified pre-owned ‘21 Taycan base with 7.7k miles. It retailed for $114k, and is very well equipped. The asking price is $64k which is attractive. My concerns are size in terms of parking, although it has rear steer which should be good in round-abouts. Regenerative braking, as the i3 is virtually one foot driving which I love. And finally battery heat mitigation that can be a problem from what I hear. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Great to know! Surely you got a good deal. In England they more than complain about rather low trade in values. When I look at Tesla's website then it is really hard to find better value. Thank you, Morton. Fantastic, insightful video as always. I'm in the market for a used Taycan and moving away from a Tesla Model S. In your upcoming videos, would you be able to cover the practicality of the car from a family perspective? I do not want a Cross Turismo as prefer the shape of the sedan; however, with an 11-year-old and 9-year-old, and with us planning to use the car as our main family car, I do want confidence that the rear seat space is sufficient and boot storage is practical. The Taycan often gets tagged as a family sports car so I'd like to understand from someone who has experience of using one day to day whether this truly is practical enough to be used as a main family car. Many thanks!!
@morten_hannesbo6 ай бұрын
Thank you! The Taycan is ok for space, but not great. With two kids with long legs and the occasional long trip it could be tight. There a Tesla Model S would be much more practical. Our kids are out of the nest and I mostly drive alone or with my with wife so no lack of space for me. I even get a road bike into the back of the vehicle. For our family trips I run a Range Rover.

Hi Morten, congratulations on this series of videos. These are exactly what I'm looking for while deciding when to take the plunge and buy a second-hand CT 4S. One consideration I have that I haven't seen anyone address so far is the charging history of a used EV. I suspect a lot of those who bought a Taycan from new would not have been particularly familiar with the sensitivites of charging an EV. For example, how many will have heeded the advice to charge to only 85% and ignore their range anxiety? Also, with Porsche recommending Ionity chargers, how many owners will have only ever charged their Taycans on a 350kW DC charger every time it needed topping up rather than giving it a nice gentle 7.4kW AC charge at home overnight?! Also, how many will have leased their Taycans, not caring about the long-term effects on the battery of the way they charged? I see some businesses are now offering a kind of battery review service, but I have an OBD reader and Car Scanner which can tell me how many times my EV6 has been DC fast-charged, etc. So a question going through my mind is, will a dealer let me plug in the OBD reader on any of their Taycans I'm interested in buying?? Or can they provide some form of charging history? I asked a dealer this last question a couple of weeks ago, and they had no immediate answer.

Hi Phil, thank you for watching. I asked my Porsche Dealer (been a customer for 15 years and have two other Porsches!) if he would do a battery test to establish a health score. His reply was that this was not possible (although I know for sure that Porsche can do a test). Long story short; Porsche is very tight-lipped about the battery health - and Porsche even states that customers who do not follow the recommended SoC 15-85% could lose the warranty. The experience so far shows that the Taycan battery is in fact pretty good and holds up well. There were other issues such as sealing etc, but Porsche have rectified most of them. I suggest you ask for at battery test at the Porsche dealer and see what he says. You can also buy the car from the dealer subject to a subsequent test result of min 90% health score and have it tested by a third party (software provider Aviloo is widely available). My personal view is that if you have confirmation that the warranty is still valid and can be extended, I would not worry too much. The range should be 380-400 km with a 100% SoC which would indicate a healthy battery.

Dear Mr Hannesbo, I am considering buying a used Taycan Sport Turismo here in the Southwest of France and I was wondering how much of a discount you received from the Porsche dealership (I suppose you bought a Porsche Approved car?) with respect to the dealer's original asking price. There are quite a lot of 2 to 3 year old Taycans for sale in France but they are listed for quite a lot of money and I guess that is partly because Porsche doesn't want people to see the horrible depreciation figures on this type of cars, but how much do you think Porsche dealerships are over-quoting their Taycans at the moment and how much do you think they are willing to come down in price in reality ? Great channel with practical, useful info from an owner's point of view in stead of a journalist's or regular youtuber's one. Keep up the great work.
@morten_hannesbo4 ай бұрын
@@kizmaiaz7671 Hi, thx for watching! The Porsche Dealers prefer to sell you a finance deal with the car and leave some financial wiggle room, hence the higher prices, allowing for the cheap finance deals or a high trade-in price for your existing car. The Porsche dealers' prices are typically 10% above the non-Porsche dealer level. I bought my 4S at a BMW dealer and got 4% discount. But important; make sure you buy a Taycan which is still within the Porsche Manufacturers warranty and have this confirmed by a Porsche dealer, then you can buy from any dealer or even a private seller with a good level of confidence. Even better; have a Porsche dealer check the car and confirm the work that has been done incl all warranty and recall work.

Again useful owners information that isn't from a car reviewer who can't say anything negative or they will not review another car. Example : VW Buzz reviewer who gave bad review on range got banned from reviewing VW cars. In the UK prices seem on par with Europe but used Taycan cars are dropping £1000 a month at least. Some used car dealers (including Porsche garages) are holding prices because I think they are looking at massive losses. Tyre wear and miles or km covered will be interesting. 20 inch Taycan tyres are about £200 each and 21 inch tyres about £320 per tyre in the UK. Insurance is about £1000 a year for a driver over 50 and UK does not pay road tax for electric cars until 2025. London so called ULEZ green zone will soon charge even electric and hybrid cars which are Free at the moment. In London ULEZ cost is £12.50 per day for a petrol or diesel vehicle.
