But yes the Himalayan is build for explore, I think of it like a tractor, I don't have to worry about the bike it will get me there, take all the punishment i give it, drop it, smashing it through things. When it's about exploring new places and it's all about what's in front of you that you're interested in and you don't have to think about what is under you, that's a great bike to explore on. @freewayproject2 ай бұрын
Thanks Mark, it great to hear your exploring Tasmania such an epic place to explore. The best thing to do it change a few time until you get comfortable with it. Depending on what size they are they need a bit of muscling, the bigger diameter ones are a bit easier than the smaller ones. It helps to push the bead of the tyre in to the centre of the rim where the divot is at the opposite end to where you are using the leavers as it means the diameter is shorter there so easier.

What stands out for me is the quality of the roads, bitumen and gravel. The roads in Australia are in the worst state of repair I can remember after 40 years of riding. One of today’s headlines has a FNQ MP claiming that potholes on the Bruce Highway led to a fatal collision between a car and a bus. The truth is the roads are shocking now and the difference between the roads in NZ and Australia is evidently huge.
@freewayproject2 ай бұрын
Good observation Jeremy, I hadn't thought about it but yes all the roads, dirt or bitumen I rode on were in great condition (obviously the dirt tracks in the series I am picking them because they are rocky and rough).

Hi Joe! Was wondering what gear you are wearing and if you had any favourites! Particularly interested in your pants and gloves for winter!
@freewayproject2 ай бұрын
I have a gear review coming a the need of the New Zealand series that will go over everything, but the pants I am using are the John Doe defender, they are more comfortable than most, they are kevlar lined and have the protecting pads on the hips and knees. They are not water proof, to get water proof it's 3 or 4 times the cost and a lot less comfortable, so I have rain pants to through on over the top. Gloves I have 2 sets, Akin Moto the old version of RAIDER MX MOTORCYCLE GLOVES I have are done over 70,000km and I have a pair of BERING MOYA GORE-TEX BLACK WINTER MOTORCYCLE GLOVES, warm and water proof

Thanks Joe, excellent production. Are you using the new tent? Safe travels
@freewayproject2 ай бұрын
Thanks Larry. No, the episodes take me a while to edit each one so I have left New Zealand, I managed to get by with the old tent as there were no nights where it rained. The new one will make an appearance the next time I am camping.
@larrykaminski32692 ай бұрын
@@freewayproject I thought something was up because for a new tent it was not bright and clean. Any way, good show so far. I wish I was young again and could visit both Australia and NZ.

Thanks for the inspiring video. The Braided river Tagliamento I have seen in the area of Tolmezzo Italy. One of the last unrestricted rivers in central Europe.

@@3goldfinger No they are in order this must would have been early April. They just take me a while to edit, so the first episode was at the same time, but as the are only one or two days between each episode it gets further away in the later episodes, if that makes sense

If you think roundabouts are difficult and more so with a railway line through it, how about a 1 way bridge where the road deck is the same as the rail deck? kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJutmaVnirGpnqc About 3.5km north of Kumara Junction was such a bridge, I've driven over several times but never by train as it is a freight only line that serves the diary factory at Hokitika. Since my video was shot a new road bridge has been built. Anthony

I'm find with the roundabouts there is just one country that freaks out when they approach them, I won't name it. Had a look at the video, well that is what is called utilising your assets.

Hi Joe, I've been following your trips for a while and I just love your cinematography. Are you able to please tell me what video editing software you use? And do you use GoPro cameras, or something else? Thanks.
@freewayproject2 ай бұрын
Hi Pippa, I use Final Cut Pro as I find it the quickest to use also it renders files out a lot faster so for this type of editing it's the one that works the best. I do not use a GoPro, I have tried and they have always had issues, stopping, having to reset, battery issues, dying for no reason etc.... For the footage while riding I am using a DJI Osmo Action, I'd rather use a real camera but the weight would be an issue.
@pippacarron18612 ай бұрын
@@freewayproject Thanks so much for your prompt reply! I tried using Final Cut Pro but didn't warm to it enough to persist, and moved to Camtasia which I found much more intuitive and easy to use, but I've found that a lot of the professional videographers use Final Cut Pro, so may go back. And what drone do you use? I had a DJI Mavic Mini 2, but it just died on me mid-flight! Got the drone back, but the problem was with the controller which now can't be fixed. So I'm looking to get something else.
@freewayproject2 ай бұрын
there are 3 main editing programs used by professionals to create feature films, adobe premiere pro, blackmagic davinci resolve and apple final cut pro. Premiere and Davinci work on the traditional NLE (non linear editing) format, where as FCP changed it slightly to make the editing process faster. Which ever NLE you choose it's all about sticking with it for the long term to which makes editing faster. For 99% of editing projects they all can do the same job. The Benefit of Premiere is the integration with After Effects (if you work with this). The benefit of FCP is due to Apple designing the software and hardware it is 3 to 4 times faster rendering exporting, less issues with retime playback etc... Davinci is great to they all do basically the same job and only have slight differences, so for youtube it's all about speed. I have a DJI Mavic 3 Pro ( I recently upgraded from the original Mavic) I also use it for the Documentary film work I do (my Job). I need it for the format it films in so i can colour grade it to match other higher end cameras, the drone that are less expensive don't have these codecs
@pippacarron18612 ай бұрын
@@freewayproject Oh wow, thanks for all this information. So very kind of you. I'd better bite the bullet and shift back to Final Cut Pro.
