Jack Kirby re-imagined the Norse gods as extra-dimensional beings in like the 70's. I dig his style. But Marvel wasn't in the business of mythology and history, they were making superheroes. Actually "God of Thunder" is a marvel thing. It's also a misconception by many westerners. There is no mention in the Sagas or Eddas about any of the gods or goddess being "of" something. Though Thor is associated with Thunder storms "God of Thunder" would not be accurate. You kinda missed a few things with Loki and the forging of Mjolnir. Like the fact that he was mad at Thor for leaving without him and he cut off Sif's hair because he knew Thor loved it. He went to the dwarfs to originally just get her replacement hair, but arguing with the brothers a slip of the tongue started the bet. It was never his intent to bet them.
