hi Shaii, I'm not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet in regards to the "remember when the world was so easily" mystery, but, I noticed the guitar player is playing a very particular make of guitar called a Parker. While I'm not sure of the exact model of guitar I believe it would be a rather uncommon instrument for a guitar player in this genre of music. Assuming the band that performs the song is from Calgary and it was aired around 1996 (if i understand correctly) it might be worth a shot to look back at Parker guitar endorsees from Calgary/all of Canada from that time. This could lead to a visual identification of the guitar player and hopefully identifying the song. P.S that guitar is very popular amongst prog metal and virtuoso/guitarhead styles of music

So, the story to "There's a Man" (which has been identified as "Man on a Hill" by The Defended) is that the whole thing about the song being lost was a promotional stunt by the looks of it, mainly given how the Spotify page for the band used to mention that they were waiting to be discovered and also now currently mentions the lost song specifically.
@blistlelo170010 ай бұрын
"The World Was So Easy" is when a something sounds so familiar and generic that it became a needle in a haystack amongst many other very similar songs. It's just harder to track down songs that sounds very similar to one another and I have stumble across this issue mixing up so many songs before because of this. So many songs sharing similar lyrics, melodies and beats. It's easier to find the song if it had an official music video attached to it unless it too is lost or uses many common popular visual tropes. However it's even more difficult if only one second loop is found and rest is lost.

The MP3 player almost certainly was an iPod Nano - the 16:9 screen one from about 2009ish. I had one and it was quite unique in that it allowed you to record off of radio (not an advertised feature, to my knowledge - it was kind of fiddly but it allowed you to save the songs under a folder for that station and then synced it to iTunes to see if it could find more info about the song, but some songs wanted you to buy them - my library was almost entirely songs that did not require it) and had a massive selection of radio stations to choose from, some that were made specifically for Nano listeners. I remember one station I listened to all the time being ran by two guys in a dorm in the north of England, specifically off of a laptop, and they played a LOT of music like that, but it was all British, so this song wouldn't have been on there. I had a massive library of songs just from the various stations I was able to pick up. I'm so angry that it's broken now (spicy battery situation) and has been since like 2011ish, or I'd totally dump the songs off of it.
@jacejaxon719710 ай бұрын
Based on the acoustics of "There is a man", it's a live recording in a small room. So most likely a jam session recording. It's possible the song wasn't ever on the radio.

It was common back then (and even now sometimes) for local or up-and-coming bands to play their demos on local/small radios. I think it was probably a demo and the band landed some sort of deal to get it some air-time, obviously as promotion to gain some traction. Unfortunately, the band might've broken up or gotten nowhere after that, which is why it's hard to track down.

I was just about to say that there was another lost song that intrigued me because it was discovered on a bootleg copy of a Gaspard Ulliel film that he made around the same time he made _Hannibal Rising,_ but I just checked and discovered that that song was one of the ones that was recently found: “How Long Will It Take”. So, I guess it’s just those other four I’m waiting on :) ETA: Oh, and “Everyone Knows That”, I guess. That was the focus of the kylie video, and I guess I’m gonna remember that one, too. Im almost CERTAIN that the last song was a MySpace release from some up and coming band. There were TONNES of tracks like this by tiny rock bands. It doesn’t sound like it was recorded in a studio, seems homemade. This station probably picked it up from MySpace. Sadly many songs like this were lost forever once MySpace shutdown. I also disagree with this being made in the ninetees. Its closer to 03-05, there was a lot of pop rock that sounded like this at the time.

Dunno if anyone's pointed it out, but the guitar the guy is playing looks like a Parker Fly, they have a pretty unique look to them. That could potentially narrow it down a lot as it's not a common instrument in Country or Folk genres at all. It's possible he was using it as the *are* known for having good Piezo pickups that produce acoustic sounds, which would be useful in the genre, which might further narrow it down as not all models in the 90s would have had that.

I've never been interested in lostwave before, but holy cow, There's A Man is really good Hope answers are found one day! Also being driven crazy because I've heard a very very similar song before, the intro specifically, and cannot remember what. It had a Beatles vibe to it? (Wasn't Golden Touch)

In that clip, I hear "I remember when the world was so easy, and" or "I remember when the world was so easy, then"

I wonder how many people are out there writing original songs that sound old, posting them somewhere as lost media with a backstory half believable? Probably a lot.

That "there's a man" song is great! I love the lyrics too. I hope it gets found and identified.

Just as an update if you didn’t know, it’s Man On A Hill by The Defended. I know the update is in the top comment, but I didn’t know if you knew it was found. It’s an awesome song

11:38 This song literally just sounds like the Give me Your Brains song from that Billy and Mandy Halloween special, lmao

My favorite "every day" gimmick is the daily half life 3 update guy (even if its more a twice a week update now). there has been no news for 1983 days :(

Users uploading onto KZbin everyday for years: Jon Drinks Water fits this criteria, although he doesn't upload too much anymore. But there's thousands of videos of himself drinking water on his channel.

I was entirely expecting there to be a low res explosion gif when the plane flew into the camera in the intro

I remember being so excited to play the adventure update and typed in gargamel to play on that seed only to find it was different, so I made a new world and typed the seed in again making sure to spell it perfectly but found the same again. After this I thought I might have forgotten how to spell it so I copied and pasted it from a youtube video's description and thought I was going crazy when it didn't work again, I only realised that the seed generation had changed when a friend at school mentioned it weeks later

you know those guys who upload every single day inspired me to do one of my own, i dont upload it, but I have been going and getting milk at precisely 11:00 PM every single night until my parents find out, this has been going for about 3 years now and now I am 17 and planning on moving out at most 19 so they have at most 2 years until I am doomed to have to go and get a cup of milk every single night at 11 until my inevitable death, after which if there is an afterlife I will just have to drink milk at 11 for the rest of time.
