This time my buddy Darrell and I go to the Star Wars Identities Exhibit which is a collection of the original props and costumes used in the movies. This particular one was in Shinagawa in Tokyo Japan. It was pretty cool, they had everything from light sabers to tie fighters to the costumes that Luke and Leia wore.
We also go to Odaiba, a man made island in Tokyo Bay, across from the rainbow bridge in Tokyo. There's all sorts of attractions there, including Aqua City, where we went to sample the ramen park that has ramen from all over the country. Afterwards we went to the Gundam Base to see the giant Gundam robot. It's just a statue, but it was really cool. We also walked past the Fuji Television building, a pretty unique looking building that is the headquarters of lots of popular TV shows in Japan. There was also a replica of the statue of liberty strangely.
Afterwards, we met up with my friend Michael and went to Akihabara, the electronics and video game mecca of the world basically. We hit up the classic Super Potato, a retro video game shop that is great fun to look at and a popular tourist destination. And also Kotobukiya, a really cool store that has lots of statues and figures from all sorts of series in including Mega Man and Dragon Quest.
Then we had the long train home as usual.

Actually I don't know what that is at 3:45. I am an electrical and software engineer, not a civil engineer. But as you specifically asked for my comment ;-) I can only guess: The thing seems to be a bridge. The deck of a bridge is not rigidly mounted to the pillars. It may rest on those big steel brackets mounted to the side of the concrete pillars. Note those pads between the deck and the brackets. It could be some bumper or buffer to prevent steel moving on steel, as the deck moves longitudinal due to thermal expansion and contraction. The black steel cables or bars hold the deck in place and the big black cone things on the ends of the cables may be springs to keep the cables in tension. This allows for some lateral movement also. This happens at earth quakes. So in short: Looks like some sort of earth quake hardened / approved construction technique. BTW: Congrats to pronouncing my name almost perfectly correct. You pronounced it as well as a native English speaker can without training German for years. :-)

That's it - there's lots of bridges in Japan like this with the decks resting on the uprights (often with huge rubberised pads) with restraining rubberised cabling that still allows some lateral movement in the event of an earthquake.

That shot of the train leaving at around 9:06 is super nostalgic for me, just the sounds that play and everything makes me want to go back to Japan!

The last thing I expected to see in Japan was the Statue of Liberty! I guess the Gundam, whatever that is, is Japan's Statue of Liberty? That Star Wars exhibit had to have been off the charts. And, oh yes, AA's music is much, much better than the stuff you put on your vlogs.

3:45 my guess is that these are some sort of tensioning cables keeping the bridge held together. I'm not a civil engineer so I can't be certain, and I can't find examples of the cables being beneath the bridge, but I also don't know what the top of the bridge looks like to determine its general class.

Maybe this was answered already, but I’m sure those are some sort of earthquake measure. A lot of the bridges are able to move with a quake. I’ve actually seen enormous chains under bridges that were set up the same way.

I went to odaiba last March it's a cool place if you are a fan of Gundam definitely check out the gundam base inside of the mall even if you're not a huge fan like me it's still fun to take a peek I even bout 3 gundam to build because fuck why not. Going to Japan in October with a new group of friends and I'm definitely going to have them check it out it's worth the stop you can even make it a whole day trip if you're with someone who loves shopping there's a ton of malls and resturants in that area.

When I finally get to japan I am going to go so broke between the game shops and that dbz shop I have never seen that in a video, that was in the fiji headquarters right? And I have seen that bridge area but never the mini statue of liberty, very curious as to why that is there.
