"Exploring Paul Butterfield Part 2" FOUR tabbed Butter licks and a second hand "Blues Story" at the end via Geoff Muldaur. I'm using a "C" Hohner Marine band by Tom Halchak of Blue Moon Harmonicas in the Key of G major (2nd Position/crossharp).
I hope Ya'll really dig this video as much as I sincerely enjoyed making it. Revisiting Butterfields playing for these lessons for yall has been really cool for me and has reinvigorated my respect for him as an artist and the impact he had on me. So thank YOU!

Jason. I have soooo many videos/ " Free Fridays " that are favorites. Not just for the learnings of music you provide, but also for your amazing insights; and ;commentaries; and feelings of music and the musicians' making the music. There is so much I could give you a standing ovation of appreciation for. So to that end I want to say a thankyou, and a standing ovation for your outstanding "Paul Butterfield Parts 1 & 2" videos. It's just so outstanding that you highlighted the awesome, Paul Butterfield, and some of his groundbreaking music, and playing techniques. These two videos have really become part of my all time favorites, and on the same favorites list as your " Pat Ramsey" series. Imho, Paul Butterfield cut his own path through the forest of music. He bequeathed to us the listeners' a wealth of music that can't be overlooked or lost in the dusts of time. Possibly he was the author of jazz, blues, and rock fusion on harmonica, and in his music. Similar to the great Ginger Baker on drums. This is only a guess on my part. But that's a feeling I get when listening to " Butter" and his band(s). So it's extremely kool of you Jason to make these videos on " Butter." As a fan of you and Butterfield, 3 cheers to you for bringing him front and centre, and into the spotlight where he justly deserves to be. It's soo kool when you do a series focusing on a specific muscian. So much learning, so enjoyable. ❤. Thanks Jason for being you and what you do. 😻.

Geeesh! 💜💚🖤 Thank you! You know Butter got a lot of love by the world for a harp player but I find it very odd that most blues harp players, especially the pros DON'T give him any love... I don't get it? At all .. I don't think they've really listened past his early stuff. It's crazy. So THANK YOU for GETTING it. 100%

15:05 - Shortly after I started seriously studying the harmonica (14 years ago, as of this month), I saw one of your videos and thought, "I'll never be as good as he is," and from a technical standpoint, I'm _still_ pretty sure that's true. However, little by little, I've realized that's okay. In fact, it's not just something we should learn to be _okay with;_ it's something we should _insist on._ The best version of _me_ doesn't (and _shouldn't)_ sound like _you._ It should sound like _me!_ Each of us sounding like _ourselves_ is better than _two_ of us sounding the same. Yes? As the great Billie Holiday said, "If I'm going to sing like someone else, then I don't need to sing at all." Thank you for helping me to discover and develop the best _me_ I can be.

Hey chief Kirk here from West Virginia ... I'm on my fifth week now playing tongue blocking and each day I'm getting better at it ... Tongue blocking definitely is the way to play ... Your right it allows you to just migrate into chords and dirt so much easier plus the tone definitely sounds better ... Glad you and the gang are having a great time at mardegra ... Ps , I watched that show again that Steven Geiger did back in December in Washington D C which is rare ... Steven only plays around the Philadelphia area . Once in awhile he venture's up to New York City to play ... Mark Wenner lives right there in D C and he and Geiger took a bunch of photos together ... Mark said after the gig Steven was the best harp player on the east coast ... Then he went on to say he gave us all a lesson tonight ... Just goes to show you even Mark Wenner whose been playing for fifty years and is a master is still learning about this little tin sandwich ... Anywho yeah tongue blocking is definitely taking my playing to another level .... Take care and remember your number one in the world ... That's a mighty big title to hold ... I know your wearing it with pride .... Rock on !!!!!
