Get your OWN sound and develop your own style. Learning Major Triads and other chords will help you begin to play YOUR music not just repeat licks you heard other people do. Exercises like this will also help you figure out licks that other people are doing quicker. It ALL starts here. Enjoy the lesson!

GREETINGS!!! Just like a language learn the words not the sentences by the time your 18 the FBI will be able to track you JUST by the cadences you leave. It's inevitable if you study music, even a little, that you WILL find your own sound. But you have to learn the "letters, words, verbs, nouns, sentences , paragraphs (Notes, Chords, Harmonies, time ) and ALL that a little at a time!" GEAUX!!!

This might be your best lesson yet ... Hang down in those first three holes .... Chords and single notes .... Gotta have that drummer And bass player .... That's where you develope your rhythm and style ... You said back in the day you gotta play with others ... KZbin will only take you so far.... Gotta play with other musicians that's where you develope your sound and style ...

These triads are also a great place to find some _lightning_ because all three notes of each triad _breathe_ the same direction, meaning...particularly on the I and IV chords...it's really easy to whip out some fast arpeggios, warbles, and chord action. This helps to create moments that impress the crowd...with what's actually a pretty simple trick. Great lesson, Jason!

Solid lesson! Earlier today, I started reading Rock n' Blues Harmonica by Jon Gindick to get back to the roots of harping. Chapter two got me obsessed with the breakdown of those I-IV-V chords, and making them into new and interesting patterns. Took a break to see what my man Jason Ricci put out recently and here I am getting just the perfect lesson to reinforce this new obsession. The gods have spoken, never deny the power of the I-IV-V, it holds many secrets, but not the the enlightened. Harp on brother!

What is the root , 3rd , 5th of each chord What is the root , 3rd , 5th of each chord You could have repeated that 10 times … maybe should have ? For a new harp player , I KNOW that the 12 bar blues starts to take shape with 1,4,5 format but what you said about notes of the actual chords used in the 1,4,5 is a wake up call . Like being woken up from a daze . Thanks Maestro .
