So much untapped potential in Del Rio - a silky smooth ring worker who needs a good writing team behind him. I can't believe that they didn't revert to the classic rich heel setup; a Mexican Million Dollar Man would be effective and it would be easy to update Ted DiBiase's stuff for the modern era. Plot his storyline riches against the backdrop of a global economic slump - have him do the schtick with paying off opponents and hiring goons to fight for him (Titus O'Neill could have been a modern day Virgil); have him do the 'I am the 1%' thing; have him play off well-known socioeconomic tensions (offshore bank accounts, tax evasion, making money from investment banking, etc). So much wasted.

I just knew Del Rio was gonna go out this way...Just listen to his radio-shoot on the Miz. He holds nothing back and even smirkishly states he doesn't get along with anybody. That's not the way to get ahead in WWE, unfortunately.

I don't watch TNA, but "starfuckers"? Is that really Solomon's best analysis? The guy is a decent heel. He can talk and work, had some great matches (not least with Dolph), solid psychology, a Royal Rumble winner, was in two Wrestlemania WHC matches, former WWE champion and main eventer on both Raw and Smackdown...going to have motivation after not being used by WWE and then being released after (allegedly) reacting to a racist comment made towards him... And Solomon can't see that maybe, just maybe, there's a legitimate business reason for bringing a guy in? Nah, just "starfuckers". How astute.

WWE are such fucking hypocrites, wrestlers can get busted for DUI's and aren't fired, wrestlers can tell fans to KILL themselves on twitter and treat fans badly at events AND hit fans * Cough* Cm punk and so on and get away with shit or suspension and fine at worst, so all ADR does is get pissed at some guy being an racist asshole and slap him and he's fired? I'm Not a Big ADR supporter, he's not that great IMO or any huge loss by any means, But that doesn't mean it was right or deserved for him to be fired, suspension MAYBE, was he wrong for hitting the guy? Yeah he shouldn't of did that, but fact is people have done much worse and gotten off easier. Oh WWE, the hypocrisy is astounding.

What I don't understand is why did wwe make him beat cm punk then a month later lose to john cena. It makes no sense. Wwe has been doing this for years. Making someone new win the title then have them lose a month later.

I think the WWE is doing some spring cleaning. They need the budget cuts so they used del rio as an example. I think they have new guys coming in so getting rid of rio makes sense. He was ice cold and they did nothing with him. So is cena and many others too

The reality era I think is a concept that was created in the back of everyone's mind after CM Punk pretty much put the whole company on blast a little over 3 years ago. I think he definitely didn't fail in his Wwe. And who cares if he wasn't being pushed these last few months. Only a very few group of wrestlers get that treatment. So being ice cold isn't as bad as you make it sound. I will miss him but I gotta say, his theme really does allow for a return later. Its pretty epic.

Del Rio was close to Main Event level, but he just wasn't quite ever there. The Mexican Aristocrat character was great. Especially when he was destroying Rey Mysterio up until the injury. I think with enough of a push and some better and more video packages and backstage segments, the fan would have gotten behind him as a heel.

I think his point about that was with Del Rio it was like him showing off his wealth coz at the time hes was being pushed as a rich Mexican aristocrat so he would drive into the arena with an expensive car, whereas with Eddie it seemed like it was more of a stereotype kind of thing, trying to play on his Mexican roots, it was never about him being better than everybody else by entering by car, it was something the fans enjoyed. At least thats what i took from it anyways.

Del Rio had to be of the bigger contracts that they really didn't need anymore and Del Rio I know wants to be done with WWE so i'm gonna say he had a part in the decision of him being released and HHH is secretly really happy about it and paid off the guy to get del rio to hit him.
