For some reason the Autumn colours have been terrific this year, I really thought they were peaking Early and after the strong winds recently assumed the Leaves would be well stripped. But even locally, it has been Super. You captured some lovely Colours, and your Digital Velvia Processing😊😊 really brought out the Colours. It is a lovely area, but as you mentioned, it is busy, and being next to the House of Bruar just adds to that.

Another great video of the colours at a great location. I love the way in which you can really find great extracts from a view and create a wonderful impression of the scene. It reminds me a little of the Pattack Falls near Laggan When we first went there, we ended up getting engaged on the little footbridge; so it has good memories for us. Probably explains why I don't have any scenic shots of our visit there. The House of Bruar shopping experience has expanded enormously since we first went - it almost makes me want to yell out at the shoppers that they need to step away from all the boxes of shortbread and Edinburgh rock and do what is a great walk and with loads of amazing viewpoints.

Thanks! Yeh, I made the mistake of popping into the House of Bruar after the walk, thinking I could grab a bite to eat. It was so busy I left again almost immediately!

Another wonderful video, John. It was great seeing you capitalize on the autumn colors. I really appreciated hearing your thoughts on how to deal with the high contrast lighting. The way you managed to pull out details from the shadows and keep the image looking natural is impressive. I noticed it first off on the first picture where the image from the video showed the lower part of the falls darker but the processed image brought them out of the shadows. I also loved the last shots with the reddish-brown rocks and the swirling water. The image had a kind of abstract feel to it that really pulled me in. Thank you! Jim.

Thanks Jim! It was an interesting day. Using a relatively new camera, new filters and bright sunshine but it was a great location so that helped!

I like what you did with the cascades from the unofficial viewpoint at 15:03. Blending the darkened trees (which appear to be in full sunlight) with the dark water worked very well. I liked this photo but my favorite is the last one, the closeup of the swirling water at 17:10.

Thanks Jim. The guy I spoke to suggested a thin piece of tape around the loose leg and it's worked a treat! I've found waterproof surgical tape works best!

Who doesn't love a single span stone bridge over a gorge ... apart from me, as I know they're going to to be a total illegitimate to get the right angle. I guess its where you really exercise your compositionals, especially as I have some sort of inner psychological block on shots of water flowing away from you. Despite your best efforts, and the valiant loss of a foot, for me the best shot, and a definite screensaver, was the final one of the golden rocks. Did you take any photo's of the golden (silver) birch leaves floating on top of the water in the pools ? I'm a bit of a sucker for swirly abstract 'long exposures' of floating leaves; even if its a cliché (like everything else in long exposure ...😁😆🤣 ) .

thanks Iain. Yeh, that rock / water image at the end was one of 6 or 7 I took just as I was leaving and it's probably one of my favourites from the day too. I didn't get any leaves on water shots on this occasion, but, I did the very next day - which could well be the next video if I decide the pics are worth sharing!

@@JohnMcKennaPhotography Regarding the other channel, how about a video on corpse roads. There's a video on 'The Map Reading Company' channel ... A Video about a Stone ... just out, that explains what they are. There's one at the head of Loch Voil, where Rob Roy used to stay, although I think its a bit of a trek.

Fabulous images John of one of the most Photogenic waterfalls in Scotland, and there are many..Was there 2 weeks ago myself on a stop off to Nethybridge, anyway managed a few of the Bridge and middle falls really spectacular in the Autumnal Colours. Was using a 70-200mm and found that a bit on tight side for the bridge but ok for middle falls which I think are really Spectacular. Called back again on the road back home to Airdrie and used the 24-70mm which was ideal for the bridge shots..Surprised you didn't mention "The Bard" himself..who had an input 200 odd years ago to plant some trees in the area...paying dividends now with the fantastic scenery 👍

@@gerardmullen2 Thanks Gerard! I did mention the Bard in the original video but decided to cut that section from the final edit. It was his poem "Humble Petition..." that put the location on my to-do list in the first place!

@JohnMcKennaPhotography Think our Rabbie took some inspiration for his work from the areas he visited on his travels..been to a few waterfalls over the past few years ..and Burns has had an influence one way or another..ie.Aberfeldy for one..Wouldn't take much with the Stunning scenery we have John 🌳🍂🍃👍

I've been up there in the snow. The path was covered in thick ice and getting up was a nightmare. But on the plus side, there weren't any tourists. I have a loose tripod leg as well. No matter how often I tighten it, it works loose again within a few uses. There's a washer which is supposed to stop the screw from turning, but it doesn't. I'm wondering if I maybe just need a new washer.

I'm hoping to go back in winter, ideally with a little snow. I though my problem was a washer, but closer inspection showed the leg itself has a groove cut into the side. It looks like perhaps a small stone has become wedged and it's carved a tiny gap in the side, just wide enough to stop it tightening. the tape seems to have helped but i suspect a new tripod is needed

@JohnMcKennaPhotography yeah, if you've had your tripod at the beach you need to dismantle it and give it a good rinse. But who does that?
