I just hope that people can begin to grasp your analysis of light, cloud, sky, and ambience in your summation. The amount of time information and your understanding of the scene before you for each photograph is incredible to say the least. As usual great photography, but got to love the Rowan Tree 🌳 and the red berries.

@@b.2221 thank you! I'm planning to return and try again with the sunrise, but the real reason for a return trip so soon is that i have an idea for a shot of that Rowan tree and the three sisters beyond... Fingers crossed for the right conditions!

There is always something magic about Glencoe and Glen Etive when you arrive before Sunrise and as usual (but it is part of the Enjoyment) the Light is rarely what we want. I loved the Reflections on the Lochan and the Grasses looked great, I always like your dark and Moody processing. I hope your transfusion and recovery from the Midges went well.😩😩😩😩

What a concept, hope you return and get some truly red skies sometime. The images were still stunning, loved them all. I often stop at the lone tree when I'm passing, photographed it quite a few times. I always park there when walking up to the Study, so a quick shot of the tree before jumping back in the car always seems to happen. 👍

Good stuff John, the rowan tree overlooking the Three Sisters is a regular stop for me , I often drive past the little loch knowing here must be a photo there , maybe next time I'm up that way , may wait until the midges are away😂🪰🪰🪰🪰🪰

thanks Jeff! Is that the shot you go for or did I miss a better view? I'm going back in a fortnight to try again with the sunrise, but, also to try something a bit different at that tree too

@@JohnMcKennaPhotography yeah , its hard to find a better composition , I have taken a few shots at different times of the year, all the same comp, but...there is another rowan tree not far from there that protrudes a rock face again overlooking the Three Sisters

I know you were disappointed with the light but the last shot of the tree with red berries was my favorite. It would be worth another early morning visit to the same location for a second try.

10/10 for commitment and composition. Maybe the light wasn't playing ball. I've neither seen a shot from Lochan na Fola or of that Rowan tree so they're both new to me. Yeah, Stob Dearg ... now we just need to call the pointy one Stob nan Cabar 😁 Men from Coatbridge only usually wear nets over their head like that to make a withdrawal from the bank. 'Honestly Officer, its a midgie net, there's an awfa lot of them doon ba Sunnyside'.

you have me with the Beag summit! I didn't know that was it's name. haha - oddly I did get asked when I bought the midge mask from the Coatbridge Go-Outdoors if I wanted it bagged or would be wearing it out to the other shops and cash machines...

Thanks, it's a great spot, I'm hoping to get back later this week or early next week. A good alarm clock is all I could suggest. Different things work for different people though. Also a no-snooze rule. once the alarm goes off I get up asap.

Nice images! This maybe a dumb question, but since we don’t have midges over here I guess I don’t understand. Doesn’t replent work on them?
@JohnMcKennaPhotography
@JohnMcKennaPhotography 3 ай бұрын
Thanks Mark. Nothing seems to repel them! I've found when camping if you sit down-wind of the campfire, they bite less due to the smoke but that's about it! I've tried lots of different insect sprays and creams and nothing seems to work!

Another great video! The light on the lochen didn’t meet your hopes, but I loved the shots you got. It was helpful to see your process a you revised your plans to account for the actual conditions and found shots you hadn’t intended to take. You’ve encountered the midges many times before, but this was the first time they were visible covering your hand. Wow! It was fun to hear you chuckling about the conditions even though they turned out differently than you expected. Sounds like you had a great morning in spite of the midges. Not sure I would have kept such a positive sense of humor. Great photos! Thanks you!

@@jamesvoiss7122 thanks Jim! I cant stress just how annoying the midges get! You have to laugh at it though as there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. I think i've developed a sensitivity to the bites though (i also have a very bad reaction to horsefly bites) and for the next day or so after this video i felt like my skin was crawling and hyper sensitive. The things we do for a photo eh??
