Fun to see areas I was also in. I did the RVA-Williamsburg bike trip on Columbus Day weekend, and was on the Norfolk waterfront the last week of October. With some effort I probably could have found a way to say hello. And I agree Richmond is a great museum city. Did you try the Poe museum? Contact me if you want additional cycling tips for the Jamestown area, or to join our bike club as my guest if you come up the Potomac next year. There is some great bike riding on the Maryland shore of the lower Potomac.

Can't wait to see what the winter travels bring!! You were traveling a very fun area of VA! Since 2013 Smithfield's has been owned by a Chinese Company. "Smithfield Foods is owned by the WH Group, a Hong Kong-based company that is China's top meat producer" I don't think they process the meat here, they slaughter and send them overseas I have heard.

What are the bridge height limitations?

Nothing that impacted our 18.5' clearance... but don't recall any short bridges. But we honestly don't pay much attention beyond our own needs.
