I've played the sims 2 for 14 years and I've never seen these kind of glitches in cutscenes. EA has broken the game and is asking simmers to play for it. I'll stick to piracy😂

Same here. Never stopped playing sims 1 through to 3 for the last 25 years. I was playing ts1 in early January. And they run totally fine on my modern pc on windows 11. Never had no issues. I’ve even been able to install them from my old cd-rom and DVD-rom discs (that I’ve kept all these years). Had to get an external usb DVD drive and installation was fine. I suppose every computer is different, but the original games run fine for me. So much nostalgia too, when you see the old EA registration screen and the Grow your Sims mini game 😁

I want to clarify that he used "townies" incorrectly. He showed us premade playables. Townies in the Sims 2 are sims who don't appear in the in-game map, wander around community lots, in front of your sim's house, or brought over as a coworker friend. They can be added to a playable household if married or asked to move in.

I loaded up my Sims 2 complete edition that I got for free back when they were taking it out of the store and it's not glitched at all. There's a square black thing under their feet, but you just have to change a shadow setting and it disappears. I'm not sure how they managed to give it a ton of glitches with this new release, but I'm not surprised.

There's a mod to fix it, There are even a few tutorials them by searching 'Black square shadow fix', i hope this helps and you can enjoy your game

Its cause they didn't just bring it back into the store, they tried to fix bugs and glitches and things like pink soup but as per usual they made it worse..they broke it further. People even complain about the voices sounding bad/weird..oh man..I will stick to a free download ans lazy dutchess fixes

2:08 That's actually a bug. The Sim doesn't get sucked by the UFO. He just stays at the telescope. I saw other people in the comments having that same issue as well. Hopefully someone has opened a thread about it. It's a minor thing, but typical of EA to release yet another broken game. 3:32 And it appears that other cutscenes as well... Wow.... Good job EA..... Honestly the game is so broken, people are better off downloading it for free from somewhere at this point. And what's with Mr. Humble and his computers ahahhah, this game is cursed

@@tokicode04 Not to mention about 2 to 3 years ago I worked really hard to get it working properly, got all the fixes, figured out the settings, got it WORKING (then promptly went to playing Sims 3, LOL) so why would I get a new version that's buggy and some of my mods don't work? I made the decision to switch my after work stream from Sims 1 to Sims 2 about three weeks ago (before all this) and was just finishing up my story lines and planned to start next week. I find it hilarious that I already made the decision and it happened to coincide with all this.

I am currently setting up an uberhood with all the maxis neighborhoods because I have never played them properly in rotational playstyle, I used to play in custom hoods or create new families in the maxis hoods. @@tokicode04 I had thought to create a neighborhood with all the people in the bin. The ones I never played, just to have a world with all of them in it. I don't actually play any of the premade families but I like to have them as friends. And I always felt bad the ones in the bin didn't have a real home and place in the worlds. But I saw a video from Pleasant Sims on how to renumber and change the premade neighborhoods so you can have more than one copy of the originals. Totally gonna do that so I can have more than one of those. EDIT: the tutorial is by Marticore not PleasantSims

So I believe Olive Spectre got Nervous Subject removed from her care by Social Services. Loki and and Cersei either adopted him or took him in specifically to experiment on him. This is my head cannon because I've tried to adopt a sim with Olive Spectre, and when you do that you're told you can't because records indicate that you've previously had a child taken away!

A few years ago, you could get the Sims 2 whole collection digitally, when you could proof that you owned a physical copy. Now you have to pay for it and get bugs on top, sounds about right.

OMG the Curious brothers! How could I have forgotten them? Lazlo made cry laughing so many times. That house was terrible and wonderful all at once and the chaos that was scripted in was so hard to play but worth the effort.

One thing i remember about Sims 2 parties is that you MUST HAVE FOOD! If there's no food then the party will be a dud, and no, the cake doesn't count. I would always order pizza and everyone loved it!

I really hope everyone submitted tickets on the website for glitched alien abductions. But the door glitches in Olive Specter's house in other versions of the Sims 2. the super collection on Mac has the door glitch, because its cheat placed the curtains over the doorway.

I was so disappointed in the Sims 4 when I realised it didn't have the family trees for premade sims, or barely bios. I remember going through all of the hoods I had during the first time I played and yeah... I miss when they had whole families (And mysterious around them, like the Tricou Townies. Or seeing an odd alien in a all human family tree, or one of the Sims in Varonville who was dead and pregnant, I think part of the Capp family)

Oh, Strangetown how I loved it! Funnily enough, this is the only town in any of the Sims games that I played Townies in. In a previous post to the Sims 1 game, I said I NEVER played townies, but watching this I remember that I did in Strangetown, not much but some. I moved out Nervous Subject and killed off the Beakers because I didn't like them. I played the Curious household just enough to get everyone pregnant and some skills. The Smith family just to get Johnny and Ophelia together, I liked that pairing. But the one I played the most was the Spectre family. I turned aging off and Olive didn't die, grew up Ophelia (over time) and moved her out with Johnny. She got pregnant with a pretty little blond daughter and Johnny died (don't remember how) so she was a single mother. Never played the Grunts. I did move the Singles into a house and got them jobs but that was as far as it went. I mostly like having the premade families as friends, not to play, though I always liked knowing their background. LOL, before all this I had decided to change my afterwork stream from Sims 1 to Sims 2. I am soooo glad I don't need to get this to do it, I already had the discs and use a crack to not have them wear out.

I absolutly LOVE seeing uou play The Sims 2!!! I've whatched your Sims 2 gameplays multiple times, and seeing you play them again just fills my heart with a warmth hapiness! I love TS2, but seeing my favorite youtuber play it too is just another level. Btw, the archway in Specter household isn't glitched, it's just that Sims 2 doesn't comes automatically with quarter tile placement, and to place two wall objects in the same place requires you to have moveObjects On. you can also press ctrl+alt+L (or Alt Gr+L) to place two wall decorations in the same place (thus not blocking the archway through the wall)

IIRC Most Sims 2 houses are set up terribly with weird rooms and arrangements. I think the problem you had in the Spector home is that they hung curtains over the door. The two things can't exist in the same place, so the door glitched into the wall. Try removing the curtains and place the door again. I think it'll work then. Anyway, most EA homes need to be "fixed." Despite that, I still love Sims 2. It had so much life and quirkiness to it. Back in 2014 I hoped that Sims 4 would be the perfect cross between Sims 2 and Sims 3 with better sims models. Not what we got.

This game should have been available for the last 15 years at this point, but I guess one benefit to this finally being released is that fans have a more accessible way to playing the older games of the series who have been playing Sims 4 can see how soulless that game is in comparison

This video just inspired me to check out strangetown for the first time ever, and in my version (not the re-release), the cutscenes work fine. In the cutscene where the guy gives birth to the alien baby, his plumbob opens up and a little baby plumbob comes out, which i thought was such a cute scene, shame it was glitched for you

EA asking this much money for a game this old is honestly so shameless, especially considering the Ultimate Collection was free back in the day. They only had to make it compatible with modern computers, and they failed to do even that, introducing more glitches that were previously not even there. If you already own The Sims 2 and it works, don't bother buying the new legacy version, just look up a tutorial to make it run on your pc and stick to that. It'll save you your sanity.

Also, that Villa House!!! Strangetown was my most beloved save back in the day! Aj Loner and Erin (Beaker) Singles got married and lived in that house where AJ used the money counterfeit machine to gain all their wealth! It was my FAVORITE premade house in the game!

I'm hoping that there will be a resurgence of Sims 2 let's plays now I love the game for its complexity, lore and full game potential. Its so much more put together and emmersive than sims 4. But ive never managed to have a household survive and thrive. The needs are so much harder to look after so my sims always die, or the kids get taken away. I find it so hard to play 😭😂. In 3 and 4 I've probably had 4 out of 1000 sims die of anything other than old age, and I've probably had like 2 kids out of probably 300 get taken away. In Sims 2 I've probably had every sim die and every child get taken away.

If you want something to help, in the treasure box tab (below the simology tab that has personality and memories) in the aspiration rewards section you can choose aspiration benefits, when you make a sim or when you start out you get 4-5 perks right off the bat so you should be able to get all four of the slower needs decayers on the 1st column so your needs should decay at a slower rate!

Yeah, the Curious Household was buggy. Thankfully it was the only one in Strangetown. I demolished their house, and spun a story out of it by saying Lazlo was conducting experiments to impress Crystal. It went wrong and ended up burning down the house lol. Lazlo moved to Downtown with Crystal, Vidcud moved to a new home with Kristen Singles who he hooked up with... And Pascal married Nervous and moved into an empty plot, with the intentions of building a better lab/home in the same location as his old home. Yeah the bugs was annoying, but I just worked around it and had fun hahaha

Veronaville please! I did wanna mention that when I had Sims 2 years ago, I never experienced a cut scene. I remember going to my friend’s house and seeing that they had cut scenes and I was so jealous and confused why my game didn’t.
