Join me on an epic solo hiking/bushwacking adventure near the Tortilla Trailhead in the stunning Superstition Mountains of Arizona!
Not only will we be on the lookout for ancient ruins, but we'll also be treated to breathtaking views of the desert and have the chance to rockhound for some ridiculously gorgeous rocks. And who knows, maybe we'll even spot a mysterious U.F.O. (😒😁) hovering above us!
But be warned, there may be some blood shed as I share my hilarious fails of losing multiple battles with my arch-nemesis: Cat's Claws! Also, we might just accidentally find ourselves on top of a mountain by the end of the day...
The Superstition Mountains in Arizona offer more than just picturesque hiking trails. For centuries, this area has been steeped in tales of mystery and intrigue. From legends of lost gold mines and Spanish conquistadors to rumors of extraterrestrial activity and strange disappearances, the Superstitions capture the imagination of locals and visitors alike. But it is not just stories of treasure-hunting and ghosts that make this place so fascinating. Ruins discovered in the area suggest that indigenous civilizations may have once made this rugged terrain their home. It's impossible not to feel a sense of excitement when setting out to uncover the secrets of the Superstition Mountains - who knows what kind of mysteries await?
Trust me, this journey is not one to miss. So grab your gear and let's get exploring!

Sounds of those loose rocks hurts my knees! I like the idea just the next bend is where I start back! Same thing I have done! Thank you for taking me on a hike! Perhaps three to four miles from my house the Columbia River is, and a huge rotten 100 ton slab fell off the side of the gouged out river bottom! Felt it and others heard it collapse to the bottom of the ground! Years later I think it's unsafe still breaks or fractures to be wary of!

My pleasure, thanks for joining me! I'm definitely a "just one more bend" and "let's just see what's over that next ridge" kind of hiker! 🤣

I just saw the falling slab story-- for some reason that was cut off my screen. That is crazy stuff! Every video I've seen of rock falls is amazing and terrifying! I think about that a lot when I'm out in the mountains.

I love your videos. Thank you for showing that there are many beautiful rocks along the trail to admire if one takes the time to look carefully!

Thank you! I always find so many crazy rocks that I end up having to cut most of the footage or my videos would be waaaay too long!😂

I love watching videos of hiking the supes. Especially off trail bushwacking where few people go. I once did Peter's mesa and saw no one. I can't hike like that anymore. Maybe you can do a video of off trail on Peter's Mesa all the way from the south end to the north end near Malapais Mountain and back. Really beautiful and the solitude is amazing. I think a lot of us out here who can't hike would love it. I appreciated your videos. I like them very much....

Thank you so much for the comments! I also look for the quiet places where few people go, so I'll definitely check out Peter's Mesa. Thanks for the recommendation!

Another great adventure! Did you ever figure out what the "UFO" actually was?

Thank you! I'm thinking it was a foil balloon, which explains the hovering and flashes of silver in the sunlight.

Makes sense why the Spaniards spent so much time in the area, all that quartz laying around on the surface, imagine what's underground...

I found out after I was there that some people think the Lost Dutchman Mine is located somewhere around that particular quartz vein. Either way, I'm sure what one could pull out of the ground there would be amazing!

He says "it's not a UFO". But he hasn't quite figured out what it is so it is a UFO (unidentified flying object).

Lol I did think of that afterwards, and decided to settle on "Unidentified FLOATING Object"!😁 Thanks for the comment!
