So, I've decided to explore more of the Kpop group Dreamcatchers work. We will be checking out their nightmare era! This first video is the debut nightmare mini album. Consider it a part 1 of this mini deep dive series.

You don't need to cut bits out of Dreamcatcher songs. They do not hassle people with copyright. The only problems will be with stage performances because the broadcast companies have copyright on those. I hope you'll watch the MV's for the Nightmare series. Kpop is all about visuals and choreo and not just the music, so the MV's are the complete package. Albums in the West are a CD in a jewel case. In Kpop albums the CD doesn't matter at all because the music is all available online. What's in the album is an 80 to 160 page photobook of the idols looking gorgeous, photocards, a poster and various other items that fans like.

I remember watching this debut when it first dropped and it wasn’t just a shock to minx fans but also huge shock to the kpop industry itself because it was like re-introduction of rock into the kpop industry. Rock bands were very much phased out of kpop in the late 2000s. So it shocked everyone that a girl group would do this genre and concept in kpop. Like first time I heard rock in kpop was tvxq (boy group) & boa (female soloist) collab to do song called triangle in 2004.

One thing you will notice is the increased production value as you go along their discog. As you might heard, Dreamcatcher is under a small entertainment company and as much they company support them (not many groups get a second chance like Minx, which show how much faith the company has with the members' talent) unlike some of their counterparts, their promotional budget and production budget can't be compared. Hence, as they gain more and more traction and popularity, so do their budget to produce quality MVs etc. As for Chase Me, the song as a dual meaning if you look at the lyrics. As you already aware, Minx failed, partly because they don't stand out among the hundreds of bubblegum cutesy kpop songs that are released during that time, and they are competing against bigger and more established artists. With this repackage and new song, they are now saying that the previous music is boring (e.g. empty people's dream are boring) and they are "gonna do something outrageous" and "the quiet world is going to get a lot of noise" by shaking up the industry convention on what a girl group should sound like (shown in the rap verse "what is a good kid, why do you try to fit me in that frame". This time, instead of following the tradition route of bubblegum pop pandering to the masses, they are trying something new, and asking the fans to chase them instead.

Yeah, this is not a mini album, it's a single album, the k-pop industry is not like the others, basically the success is measured in a frenzy of promotions and a few little awards shows so artists put out a lot of mini albums or even only digital singles, I would like you to see you reaction for the official mv of Chase me, for the story that tells the whole nightmare series and there is also a special clip of Emotion where they sing live
