Watch as I experiment with unconventional materials in abstract painting! In this video, I use an aluminum can, plastic bag, Q tip, sticks, and a jade leaf to create a unique piece of art. Join me in this creative journey as I explore new ways to express myself through painting. Who knew everyday items could be used to create stunning artwork? Let's get artistic together!

Loved the energy in the painting and way to make us think outside the box and remind us we don’t have to have expensive tools to make great art 👏 👏 👏 🙌🙌

Thanks, Kelly! It definitely creates an interesting challenge when you're not sure what you're going to get when using unique tools. But I have to say, it's a really fun challenge! 😊

Thanks, Chris. A great reminder to be inventive with painting implements. I especially liked the effects you got with twigs and will probably make good use of that one. I really liked your end results - it fits well with our Rocky mtn. environment.

Thanks so much, Ann! I've had much more success when using twigs in the past, but really liked the randomness of the marks I got this time. I think you'll enjoy using them. ❤️

Okay Chris, I was not sure how I felt about your experimenting with these things you found around the house…but I found myself feeling excited to give this a go. That leaf really surprised me. I liked the painting and the colors. That’s for a fun video and the inspiration!

Thanks, Sherri! You weren't the only one who was unsure about me doing this.😊 It was a good learning experience for me. Not only what those unique tools might do, but also the expressive style that came out of it. Very different from anything I've done before. Thanks for sticking with it!

I really like this painting it has an Asian feel to it. In one orientation I can see a bonsai tree with the clouds around it and maybe some birds. In another I saw 2 ladies with long red hair bathing in rock pools or maybe they were mermaids whimsy overload happening here😆😆 As always enjoyed watching you create something beautiful. Cheers!

Thanks, Howling! I love hearing about the different things you see in the painting-your imagination and whimsy bring it to life even more. I have to spend more time looking at this one, you've pulled much more out of it. Cheers!

I admire you for thinking of new ways to paint with different tools. I also really like the square paper! What size and brand is that sketchbook?

Thanks, Susie! It's always a fun veer off and play with something different like this. This was in an inexpensive Artist's Loft (Michael's brand) Mixed Media sketchbook-9x12" 98lb/160 gsm paper-taped off to a 8x8" square. amzn.to/4bnK7uV

@@chrisloudart oh! Ok, so you used tape to create the square. Got it! Thanks Chris. I have a few books I’ve been ignoring while I adventure in my large canvasses. It’s time for a break so I’ll be studying Chris Loud videos quite a lot after I finish my current project. Exciting!

New to your videos which I am enjoying. What type of paper are you using and do you gesso it prior to starting your painting? Txs
@chrisloudart
@chrisloudart 4 күн бұрын
Thank you and welcome, Iria!❤️ This was on 98lb/160gsm mixed media paper in a sketchbook which I use for practice, warm-ups and playing. I typically like to paint on at least 250gsm or heavier paper for other pieces. I don't normally gesso the paper in my sketchbooks, but do gesso loose paper that I paint on. Hope that helps!
