Exploring Tokyo alone by tram

I don't think it is well known that there are streetcars in Tokyo (most of the ride is on the tracks though). Maybe there are many people who live in Tokyo but have never ridden on. Since I don't have that line in my living area, I also rarely use it, but sometimes I take it without a purpose and wander around Tokyo.

Nothing wrong with solo exploration! I visited Tokyo as a tourist in 2019 and spent 2 weeks wandering around the city by myself. It was one of the best times in my life :) Also, people say that being able to be alone (but not lonely) and liking your own company is a sign of a strong character :)

Been 2 years since my last travel to Japan. The goal is to travel Japan yearly. Due to this pandemic, that was not possible and hope it will soon. I am in love with the whole vibe of this video. The sights and sounds, the colors, the atmosphere, the neighborhood. I would go walking everyday if I lived there. I'm also single in my 30s and I wish my country was at least half as beautiful and clean as Japan, so I can enjoy long walks like these.

I started learning how to play the guitar a year ago and it is one of the greatest things I could've done for myself. It really shows what kind of person you are and it is a great patience exercise. Something I'm sure you would be absolutely great at :)

I actually booked my Airbnb in Otsuka because it was by the Sakura tram. I was supposed to be there last year and pushed it to this September. I used to travel to Japan 4-6x a year and wander around all over the countryside by train, subway, bus, ferry, streetcar, bullet train, and so on. I loved every minute of every stay I had. I regretted it every time I had to return home. But the pandemic put all of that to a sudden, crunching halt.

you do have the Japanese touch for focus on the potencial of the things. The shots you took of the train made me think in one short story of Banana Yoshimoto. That tranform the train into a sort of non-time universe. She made me think that all the time the characters are on the streets, in the house, at school, at the office, they have the sense of duty and an urgency to accomplish something some times well defined other times no so well defined. But in the train, they have the sense of mouving but at the same time the sense of levitating where the sense of duty is lost for the period of time the character is in the train. Te story is (recién casados in Spanish) maybe Just married in English.

An excellent little film that brought back so many memories of travels on the trams, Oji being a particular favourite, which are so inexpensive. They are a great way to explore off the beaten track Tokyo, there is so much to see an explore.

I stayed in Otsuka in 2016, and took the tram to Waseda and back. It was an old tram, beautifully maintained, (of course!), with the interior decorated with xmas decorations. (It was December.) I also visited the park in Oji in 2019, so it was nice to see this again, looking greener than when I saw it. I never had another opportunity to explore the system further, because my 2020 trip had to be cancelled. Thanks very much for this youtube.

Thank you for showing parts of Tokyo that are off the beaten track. I believe that the proper way to really discover a city's identity is to lose oneself in the streets away from eager crowds and tourist attractions.
