The beauty of B.C. is just incredible. Yeah, the reason you feel so at home in a city like Vancouver is because it really is not much different than being in the States, except for some subtle cultural nuanced differences. Thanks for playing the techno version of Free In My RV.

Enjoyed the video as usual Robert but miss your familiar music. Not sure why you're introducing new music but the old music never grows old for me. It is pretty signature stuff to tell me without watching whose channel I'm on :-). You'll be glad to know that we have those barred owls in Florida and if you visit the Lower or Upper Suwannee Parks just south of Pelicamp, you can see them there. In the summer they can be seen feeding off the ditches on the sides of the dirt roads. Happy New Year.

I learned how fragility can show up in the snap of a finger. I'm a teacher and was very high energy in my classroom and my life up until Nov 14 when I fell in the hall at school and broke my shoulder, tore my rotator cuff, broke my navicular in my right foot, and sprained my ankle, and bruised ribs. My biologic family and best friend live far away, but my work family were amazing--I mean really supportive. I couldn't even drive and had a boot on and in a wheelchair, a splint and sling. I will return to the classroom next week, still in a boot and wheelchair. I've had a lot of time to think about how quickly this happened and what an impact it has had on my life. I'm very intent to do whatever it takes to recover, and know that will happen, but it takes time. And I've also had a lot of time to think about all the things that I didn't do to take care of myself that could've maybe prevented this from happening, or at least not have made, the end result so bad. It's been a real motivation to go through this and realize how much I need to focus on regaining strength and exercising regularly and manage my nutrition better I can't wait to get back on my feet and try to take better care of myself in the future. Watching your videos, especially concerning mindset, nutrition, and exercise, also help me to stay motivated to do better!!

Wonderful segment highlighting Vancouver area. I was there nearly 40 years ago to compete in three days of international dog obedience trials at the BC stadium so we could walk across the causeway and also attend the World’s Fair a couple of hours each day. The city still has such diverse international food offerings, loved the water taxi system, and everyone was polite and kind. The city is back on my bucket list again. I’ll make sure to include the Havana for mojitos!

Happy New Year Robert! Ah, Vancouver! I was there back in '86 for the Expo--it's interesting to see what it looks like today. Kind of neat to see the view from the Sky Train, it was brand new in 1986--we used the "Expo Line" to get to the event from our hotel. If you liked that tree top walk, there are several in Australia that are really worth visiting (I believe Bill Bryson mentioned one in "A Sunburnt Country") Thanks for a great year of video adventures and Friday live chats. Here's wishing a healthy 2024 to you and Pelicanheads everywhere...happy trails!

In 1999 in Stewart they had a lot of logs that they were binding together in huge log rafts to float down to Vancouver. When we were in Vancouver we saw a number of those log rafts in the harbor getting gathered to get to the sawmills.

Hello Robert and Illy. You guys were in my hood on the Northshore near the Quay. It is a beautiful area and has certainly transformed a lot in the last 10 years. Gastown is a bit of a shock to the tourist industry for those that tempt to go to Hastings St. I never knew that there was a RV park at the place you stayed at. I may be moving from here since its so unaffordable but have a little camper of my own and so its good to know that there are some parking spots close to transit. I had been anticipating your video for the lower mainland and Vancouver area. Thanks for sharing what you saw. You showcased our city well. Love all your videos Feliz Navidad Feliz Anos! Holly

Thank you both for an outstanding view of Vancouver and her surrounds, with regard to property tax, if you can help, we pay a tax here to our local city , which we call ' rates' what concerned me was your property tax in Florida which appears excessive considering the level of services, street mtce etc, , the property here is now similar to the US with regard to exchange rates, but your property taxes seem way off real for what you receive, safe travels, love your blogs

Happy New Year’s Eve.. What better way to end the year than on a high note back into civilization. Vancouver is a beautiful city and lends itself well to your oh-so-familiar style. Classic Traveling Robert right here. You do such a great job showcasing cities and as always, your music new or standard, never fails to set the mood and bring every scene to life. Thanks for going to Point Roberts, it’s the one place in Washington I’ve never been, and is so obscure not many would ever think of showing it. That was cool. Also, they do up Capilano Park in lights during the holidays, and is really something to see. This was a fun episode.

Happy New Year Robert! Today’s episode was almost like my morning commute to the four letter place except through your eyes. I pass that RV park almost every day and my commute is below the SkyTrain most of the way! Commercial Drive is a cool area. It was known as the Italian area of Vancouver but it looks like there is a lot more variety there these days. The suspension bridge is cool but I agree with one of the other comments that the bridge at Lynn Canyon is better! Free and a lot of recreational opportunities on the other side. One advantage I have as a BC resident that if I go to Capilano I can get a yearly pass for the price of one admission. I haven’t been there for a while but I should check it out soon as a tourist in my home town. Pt Roberts is an interesting area for sure! There is another stretch out in the Fraser Valley where there are two parallel roads with a ditch separating them. The ditch is the Canada-US border. Thanks for two great episodes showcasing my home area!

Vancouver is similar to say, London: great place to visit but horrible place to live. Instead of Capilano suspension bridge, you should have gone to Lynn Canyon suspension bridge in Lynn Canyon park . Much less touristy, free and footpaths on both sides of Lynn Creek running from the main harbor up to mountainous Rice Lake, where you lose all cell service!
