The grill floor is by far one of the best features I have seen in tiny houses so far : it's lighter than wood, lets dust fall, allows heat and air to circulate and it's way better and healthier for the mattress (no moisture accumulated, less germs and odors...). I wonder why it is not more common in tiny houses ! That said, lovely boat and owner and great video ! :)

+Patriot Jefferson That grated floor was more than strong enough to support her. I really doubt a professional builder, would use materials for a floor. That couldn't support the weight of someone standing on it. Plus she rents that boat out. Do you think she tells people? "Don't step on the grated bedroom floor. It's just for show. Only step on the support beams." Someone would be a fool, to creat such a liability.
@earthwizz8 жыл бұрын
Look again. Her first foot was on a beam but the angle of her leg suggests her out of sight second foot was on the mesh. Depending on how it's fixed it could easily support a person over that span. You're right it's brilliantly practical, but you might like to calm down on the insults.

What about in the winter? Those walls looked pretty thin and was thinking that river would freeze over.
@campbub7 жыл бұрын
Ian Leahy theirs a few things that can be done... If she is by power, you can put a bubbler in the water, basically it’s a fan that brings up water from the bottom that’s warmer , and it keeps the water from freezing around boat. Also it’s not the worse thing to have a boat freeze in, most think it will crush it etc.. usually not the case, as the ice will usually push up on to shore first... Last thing ... she’s on a river with a current. If she keeps the ice off her boat, it prob stays ice free all winter. I would say the worse thing could be is when the ice break up happens... I would be worried about a large chunk of ice smashing the hull. She may have a dock etc protecting her. Hope some of this helps ~

on lake erie, i only pay $650 for my dock (6 months, 30ft sailboat) that includes free electric , and water...
@ArtistBrianSheffield7 жыл бұрын
The sailboat industry has a thing called a 'cooling plate' for refrigeration purposes. I suggest a top loading to keep the cold air inside the box. They are nice size and the plate uses a small amount of energy. There is also a solid state battery charger that creates more energy than it uses producing a charge into a battery or battery bank to keep them charged. The best setup is two battery banks that can be switched back and forth with the charger working on the bank not being used.
@shanemc28698 жыл бұрын
Beautiful ideas and craftsmanship but the only thing that doesn't make sense is no solar panels to charge the battery's already , doors open up widely with electric running through without the cost of recharging battery's

Shane Mane - She mentioned that as a possibility and other changes, but she got it on impulse (no long forethought and planning). It also lacked refrigeration - she said "for now" (published in 2016). She rents it through air B&B hinting that cash flow is a factor as it is her primary residence. For a person as young as she appears to be, it's amazing that she has been able to create a relatively carefree life. I'm impressed. Eventually she'll probably have the other necessities and can rent it for more $.
