My dad was stationed in Portsmouth for five years when I was 10 yrs old. Almost the month after we got there from Roswell, NM my youngest brother was born making us four. The next year a new sister made us five. Great place to live. Pease Air Force Base was opened and the 509th SAC bomb wing settled in. We moved to Guam after Portsmouth as they readied to close Portsmouth. Turned out the weather was better in Bangor but it closed two years after Dad moved there and we were off to Chicopee, MA where he stayed until he retired. Portsmouth was a great place to live as a kid.

My uncle did the same in the 80’s. Rent wasn’t insane like yours. I think it’s funny how some of the younger don’t realize this is not new. 70’s baby has seen a lot of what was taboo in my day. I’m only 52 so it wasn’t that long ago. It’s very cute.

Rent wasn't as much back then, but neither were wages. In 1976 I had a job where I was making $6.75/hr. My stepdad's best friend was trying to take care of himself, his wife and their 3 kids on that same wage. I even got OT at time & a half. He didn't. I have no idea how he managed. Dude y'all would have been so screwed during the winter with just a beer fridge. You're very lucky she put her foot down. The longer you're married the more you're gonna see how life is easier when you listen to her. Seriously. You're still at that 'no I'm right age'. You'll learn or you'll be in pain, your choice.

Cool video...I like seeing how others utilize their space. FYI its a lot cheaper to live in a marina year round here in Oklahoma. I pay $297.00 a month. They do turn the water off for four months but there is nice heated bathrooms with showers at my marina.

smart decision as a regular tiny house would have been nearly impossible to find a place in New Hampshire. Boat rent is cheaper than anything else. So where do they shower in the winter ??? Winter living also wasn't talked about. Yup, summers would be very busy. Great plan !

A fantastic tiny home! A couple of questions though.... How do you deal with the water freezing during the Winter and avoid damage to the hull from ice? Another question is... Is your house/boat able to move under its own power and is still usable as a boat as intended in its design? How often does the bilge pump have to run? Do you have solar panels to help with energy costs (I know the electric is included but...) A suggestion, teak oil or neets foot oil is great for out door wooden furniture.

Due to the tide and content of salt in the water, we do not have issues with the water freezing. We decommissioned the engine when we decided to live on it in salt water/ near the ocean. Bilges almost never run (thankfully). We did use solar for lights and some DC components. Thank you for the suggestion of teak oil!

Well I sort of know what you are saying, but in my case I live on Lake Michigan and the entire state has a policy on the books that says ABSOLUTELY NO ONE CAN STAY ON THERE BOATS DURING THE WINTER MONTHS?. So I've decided that I'm going to design my own Tiny Houseboat and it's going to be 100% Solar powered, now my design is more just for me as no one else in the family is interested in boating. And I saw you playing with the water jug. My Tiny Home will be 40 x 20 with 2 electric Outboards that put out 50hp each. I'm hoping and praying alot that I can keep the cost around 300,000.00 dollars because everything runs on Electricity and I will have 30 to 40 panels on the roof and the whole system installed is around 45,000 dollars and I will also have a 15 KW Generator for when I'm away from the docks, and I'm also building a custom THX Home theater sound system with around 25,000 watts total power and let's not forget the TV . It's going to be coming from a company called AWOL the whole system is about 19,000 dollars installed and the toilet is going to be composting only have to empty every couple of months depending on use. I'm also installing a 15 gallons of fresh water maker, and it's a bit pricey at 5,000 Dollars but all you have to do is put in the filters and in what ever waterway you want within a few minutes you have fresh water. Oh and on the roof will be the KVH Satilite system for both my phone and Direct tv that's only 5,000 Dollars. And someone said what about food storage 1 of the benches is going to be a Cofin Freezer and the other side is going to be a bench fridge. And then comes the storage of the Lithium ion batteries to harness the 15 KW's of solar power i get everyday. It's going to be the last 20 or so years of my life I'm already 62

It does not! With the tide change and the content of the salt we have only had 1 time when it was -40 with insane wind chill that early morning the river froze over! But it was just a light freeze that went away in matter of a few hours in day light

I think the toilet situation in near the clothing could be changed by moving the lobster pot bookshelf and fitting out a clothes cupboard there with hanging space. The toilet needs to be separate from the clothes. 🤢
