@@robyn5469 Kudos to you, that was all very cleverly done. The kitchen sink was particularly interesting, it makes the counter seem anything but "small". .... but I would have enjoyed this more if I didn't know what Chinese speculators were doing to prices there, and that living like that might not be a choice for much longer.

Right? A lot of these designs tend to feature spaces/ladders that seem to be designed for people who have to be pretty spry and/or able-bodied to enjoy using them. So having a more balanced view presented is a good thing

At the very least, the ladder should have a rail on one side. It would make it safer and more practical, especially at night.
@kevintan963 жыл бұрын
Was thinking the kitchen & bathroom should be shifted towards the living room and that stairs can happen right at the door. The steps can double up as shoes storage as well & steps to wear ur shoes before u leave the house. Safer than ladders.
@kristinab10783 жыл бұрын
@Erwan Compes Lol...maybe so. Trust me though, it's not necessarily about being a weakling. When you get to a certain age, it's about balance. When you're 50 or 60 something (or an unwell or tipsy 20 year old), try coming down that ladder in the dark at 3:00 AM. Fun times.

What a fabulous apartment. With those ceilings, beautiful windows and the old exposed brick you cant go wrong. I m not convinced that the ornate style of the headboard isn’t a bit conflicted. I'd live in one in a heart beat. - The concept of it being small, but also pretty much having everything you need and an example like this one in the video, it pretty much doesn't compromise anything.. It's got a decent kitchen, good size bedroom, and a good size living area... The only thing I'd probably add or most want would be a desk and chair to work on, but you could even downsize the bed to add that in. Lot less cleaning and easier to maintain when you think of the positives

Right? I hate these HUGE American kitchens! It's almost like, the more space, the bigger the mess, a small kitchen makes you clean up as you go. And why does a 2-3 person home need so many dishes? The worst was when I had a roommate bring home a whole case of pint glasses! We used em right out the box, then had no where to put them after washing.
@SilverIchimaru3 жыл бұрын
I dont mind small kitchens and I really liked this one. The layout seems functional which is the key. As for needing more temorary prep space I've just used my small dining table.
@nicolescats23 жыл бұрын
Some have huge American families or parties to fill them. When 11 people counts as a small family gathering, which grows as your nieces and nephews bring dates or friends, I see why you might need a larger kitchen. Especially if you regularly throw house parties of a similar size for your friends. But if you're just cooking for 3 people all but 2 days a year, the giant kitchen is unnecessary. Especially if you live in an urban area where Thanksgiving & Christmas catering is readily available.
@heatherstiara80333 жыл бұрын
She’s from Canada. And houses in the US have bigger kitchens because they’re typically newer. And with more and more kitchen appliances coming out, there has to be space for everything. I know a lot of UK homes are older, so it makes sense that the kitchens are smaller. Older American homes have small kitchens too. I lived in a house built in the 1920’s and I hated the kitchen so much. So tiny. So when I moved into my home, I made sure to have a ton of counter space :).
@Charlotte001252 жыл бұрын
Yes! And the bathroom, it’s the same layout as mine (family of 4) but ours has a bit more space between the toilet and the opposite wall 😅. That’s a standard sized bathroom here.

Of COURSE it's an AirBNB. They are really taking over, aren't they? It definitely impacts the people living in a particular city looking for a rental as well. There should be a cap on how many a city can have. The people who live there actually need to be able to find a place to live. That said, this is a really lovely space. I'd replace the green wall with a bookshelf. The loft bedroom is a great idea, I'd love to have that option where I'm at. Side note...that looks like a Parlor Palm hanging in the bathroom. It will need more light in the long run (needs bright, indirect light).

Could have built a staircase and camouflaged it with additional closets and with storage .....lots of tiny homes with loft space have done this and the staircase is not even noticeable .. .check out some of the tiny homes with clever storage. Also raise the living room floor and the space between the flooring and the original floor becomes great storage space, too ! My first apartment was smaller than this..a studio made from what had been a master bedroom of the apartment next door, which I knew because the connecting door was still there, just sealed shut and my only door/window was a sliding glass door. It had its own bathroom and the 'kitchen' was a counter and sink attachment and tiny dorm fridge. Lo, I still miss that place tho!
