So, based on the size blanks he used, a 9mm blank would be about 50% wider. Take the diameter and compare it and that's about 2.5 times more volume for gunpowder if the height of the blank stays the same.

Hello Mr. I D.Athing! I'm a CNC Machinist/Operator from America! In our shop, we have a lathe just like yours, but it's about as large as your entire garage! Recently I was told about a guy who did everything right, wore more than was aquired of him in terms of PPE, a helmet, safety glasses, boots, AND gloves! However, when cutting a pipe, a chip the size of a finger flew out at just the right angle to slip under his safety glasses and pierce his eye! This isn't a cautionary tale, I just think it's funny. Have fun with your new lathe! :)
