My father, way back in the '60s mopped up any cooking oil/grease with a newspaper (remember those?) and put it in the bin. Our neighbours always had drain issues.
@SupportMensMentalHealth7 ай бұрын
My mum had a metal bowl she kept by the cooker and tipped all the excess grease into it, end of the week she'd scrape it into the bin (remember bin bags that were collected weekly?) then she'd start the whole thing over. It's a habit I still have but I scrape it into a biodegradable bag.

We pour all our grease into an old margarine container that we store in the freezer. On trash / recycle day, I run a bit of hot water over the outside of the margarine container till the grease berg floats free. I tip it into the kitchen waste recycle bin and away it goes on a truck to who knows where. No dramas at all here mate. (My late dad loved nothing better than to soak the grease into old newspaper or an old wax paper milk carton and then burn it at the bottom of the garden. His house had a long straight run of galvanised iron kitchen sink drain pipe, that had very little slope to it, so he was always worrying about any grease getting down there.)

My late mother in law, had an old coffee cup that she would save the Sunday breakfast bacon grease in for use in frying up other things through the week like grilled cheese sandwiches or pork chops etc. Not too heart smart but damned delicious.

Australia is quite huge continent/country. I figured Darwin to Adelaide was more than 3000 km by road. I reccon it will take days to drive from Perth to Sidney 🙂 From the north eastern town of Kirkenes to the southernmost village of Lindesnes in Norway the distance is more than 2800 km. Norway is a quite long and narrow country, that goes from southwest til northeast and covers 3 time zones. But we have only one common time zone in Norway, the CET or Central European Time.
