I appreciate that you are willing to discuss FTM, Ancestry, MyHeritage, etc. It shows you are a well-rounded teacher of genealogy.

This was great. For some reason, even though I have been using FTM and Ancestry for many years, I had not thought about doing this.

Wow, I needed to do this yesterday! I found out that one of my DNA matches, our latest common ancestors being in the 18th Century, also shared my set of DNA links to Malta. I reasoned that the connection to Malta must have occurred through one of the ancestors of our latest common ancestors, and so I wanted to send him a pedigree beginning with our common ancestors and working back in time to as many of their predecessors as could be named. Unfortunately, I could think of no way to do this and I wasn't going to type out the entire list by hand. Apparently I could have done this through FTM.

I wanted to do that and asked Ancestry so I knew it couldn't be done in Ancestry. I have to check out other apps that I already have.

How do you get the dates up by the list of people on the left hand side

Just found it 😊

Ancestry really needs to create a way to join two trees. I've been researching another family and just found the link that joins our two families together. I was hoping to just merge the entire tree into mine, but I guess that's not happening. :( I'll continue watching.

You really should verify the ancestors with records before importing so that your tree is accurate. Importing can add mistakes made by others.

@@GenealogyTV I'm definitely sourcing information before adding the person to my own tree.
