My mother in law told me to cook fresh breakfast, lunch, and snack fresh everyday while I was recovering from pregnancy and raising a baby. She refused to use refrigerator and microwave. I was stressing physically and mentally. I couldn’t even spend quality time with my baby. I couldn’t sleep at night because baby used to wake up, I had to wake up in the morning to help her make fresh breakfast for everyone, feed my baby, cook again, feed baby, cook again, feed my baby and cook rice again at night. Because rice cooked few hours ago is not fresh enough to eat again. I still cry even today thinking about her treatment. I didn’t even mention all the other household jobs.

I live in Portugal, the country follows a Mediterranean diet and you would see so many people above the age of 80 or 90 walking every day to have a coffee and talk with their friends. They are really an inspiration. I think an individual should not only be financially independent but also healthily independent in their old age.

I am sure the guest has plenty of good things to say and without taking anything away from him. Here is my take - There are pros and cons to every kind of ingredient , food , preparation style. Do what feels right for you based on your personal circumstances. No one has the right to judge how you eat your food, live your life.. As for me - I have been on microwave food, outside food , home cooked , junk, healthy all sorts. Ultimately came down to a question of how much. Everything in moderation was good and I was healthy. Everything in excess affected my health….So, I learnt my lesson. As a side note, listen to your body. It will give you signals when something is right or not right.

He is actually taking from a practical perspective. Try living in a country outside India, you will relate to everything that he says. It's not easy to do all household chores (including Indian cooking) while studying or working full-time. It's because in India, we have house-helps available at affordable rates or stay-at-home moms/women, it becomes so much easier, that we never realise how much difficult it is to survive without them.

Actually no. After my mom is unable to cook herself due to health problems we hired a cook. And trust me that in itself a difficult task to manage that person. It's a full time job in itself. Those who haven't done it won't know. The trick is you need a real good cook who can understand what you like but most cooks would just want to complete however they want and leave. Hence, it's a difficult task too.

Feed all at the extent of one's deterioration. Why can't some of the others participate and make it cherishable to everyone in the family?! You are only looking at it in terms of monetary value, what about your mom's or wife's mental, physical, physiological health, tiredness, other issues!? If she or they are completely involved in doing only these three times a day, what life they could have outside kitchen and house. No other activities/fun/work etcetera for overall wellbeing of that person!!!? It's all good if there are househelps. It should be part of life but poora life shouldn't resolve around it. Eat to live. Not Live to eat. But it's like living only to cook, serve feed family, eat again repeat the same. It should be a part of life beta not major chunk of the day everyday every week year. It really becomes too much. Whole life revolving around it, planning for it, exhausting for it. What about other areas of life, be it spiritual, economical, mann ke pasand kaam?! Your grandmother, mother would have had really felt many times in their lifetimes but couldn't have shared it with others especially who wouldn't even listen or empathize. I know elders around my neighbourhood and from friends who had shared with their daughters, daughter in laws, grand daughters later in their lives. The boys(not all males because there are men who understand and empathise and there are females who could never empathize or understand other's plight) who comment our grandmothers, mothers who never complained would never get to hear those from them because they won't tell these kids as they can't comprehend.

As a doctor who is so frustated with these whatsapp university health knowledge, i can vouch for the fact that Krishashok is the best guest invited on this podcast till date. The worst one was that SAAOL health centre doctor who was not even a cardiologist! After some background check, i found out that he is NOT a cardiologist and has even opened his “heart centre”! His advices were pure bullshit. He advised to drink store bought vegan milks which literally has 10% milk and 90% bullshit. Whatever krishashok states is backed with 100% facts in the era of pseudoscience and whatsapp university. Kudos to Raj Shamani for bringing him.

He forgot 100 years old meal in South Indian had very less chances of eating rice...they consumed millets like ragi..jovar etc with high protein.. South started to increase rice consumption after green revolution

Green Revolution had its use but cannot be glorified n made a way of life so it killed all out natural agricultural rhythms and poisoned our fields n water-bodies n food n livestock. We were in a rut so we needed to get out of it through the Green Revolution, MS Swaminathan appologised finally late in the day. It's like putting our fields on permanant steroids. Made to over produce n never encouraged to come back to wiser older indegenous ways. We had food shortage not because of lack of technology but due to external n internal colonisers.

Haan don't listen to him. Listen to doctors and scientists who are known to have perfect oratory skills. The doctors never misbehave, they are always respectful. The scientific research papers are written in such easy language that even a two-year old kid can read them. /s The thing is public outreach is hard. The only problem you may find is if he is not directly referring to scientific papers while making statements. So is it that difficult to listen to someone who has read and compiled all the resources for you? Do you have to call them a know-it-all?

Don't overthink. The stress hormones produced by fear , anxiety is much more dangerous than the one GMO tomato you have consumed. I just stick to commonsense eating. Balanced diet , reduced portion sizes, try to reduce ultra processed food (no aversion though) etc is easy for me than worrying about whether microwave causes cancer , refrigerated food has 2% less nutrients , mango has carbide in it etc.

I agree with most of his points on refrigeration, microwave, induction, processed food but I still avoid non stick. Theek hai abhi risk nahi diagonse hui hogi but agar thoda bhi risky h to kyo use karna. Use Stainless steel ya bronze.

Beech me aluminium rehta h jo kabhi touch me nahi aata. Agar aap pure steel ka utensil lete ho to usme uneven heating hoti h jiski wajah se khana kahi se jal jaata h ya chipak jaata h. 3 ply me woh Kam ho jaata h because beech me aluminium ki layer hoti h jo even heat spread karti h. 5 ply me 2 extra layers rehti h jinki wajah se heating thodi jyada jaldi aur evenly hogi. Isme heat ke retention bhi jyada der tak rahe (like those heavy cast iron utensils). 5 ply durable bhi jyada h. But usme weight bhi jyada hota h aur expensive bhi ho jata h. Do keep in mind agar 5 ply lena h to usme 1 layer copper ki bhi ho, some low end brands copper ki jagah aluminium ya steel ki ek aur layer laga dete h 5 ply kehne ke liye. Hum 5 ply ka cooker, saucepan aur kadhai use karte h. But frying pan 3 ply h kyoki usko baar baar khana bante time uthana padta h aur 3 ply me woh easy rehta h, light weight ki wajah se.

3 ply and 5 ply me koi health difference nahi hota. In both types of utensils food only touches the stainless steel surface. The difference lies how they cook food. 3 ply me aluminium layers hoti h steel ke neeche jisse heat evenly distribute ho aur hot spots na ho. 5 ply me 5 layers hoti h jisse heat distribution aur jyada even hoga aur heat retention bhi jyada hoga. But 5 ply, 3ply se expensive hogi, heavy hogi aur durable bhi. But keep in mind 5 ply me copper ki bhi layer ho. Cookers 5 ply ke best rehte h for safety. Fry pan me mujhe 3 ply pasand h as they are light.

Do note that my Meyer utensils claim to use Nickle free steel which is considered even more safe but I'm not sure if their claims are true as they demand premium prices over other brands.

This one was so bad I had to stop midway and drop. Look how he toned down quickly and changed words as raj challenged him on some stuff. In india most people cant think critically and hence believe anything said with confidence on podcast or on whatapp messages. In few years there will be a law that will make also make hosts also accountable and they might haVe to take down such videos.

What !!!rice prepping does take less time but what about the curry, rasam/daal, the chutney, all the variety of powders, the fav idly or dosa etc etc made in south. Nowadays for everything we have machines but in those days stone grinders were used. I didn’t like the comment that rice preparing women has less work 🤷♀️. Cooking is cooking. South or north , they have their own varieties of dishes and their own process. Please don’t bring your own perceptions and try influencing other with that 🫢

He said cooking rice takes lesser time than cooking chapattis. Traditionally cooking was done by women. South Indian women could spend lesser time than their north Indian counterparts. This freed them to pursue activities outside their homes. This was his argument. Cooking rice is indeed less laborious than making rotis.
