it's a shame the instagram rants & weird donda 2 rollout happened the same time the doc came out. I think part 1 & 2 are super insightful to kanye and a good source for creative motivation.

Man I hope Ye releases his backlog before he dies. His unreleased discography rivals the entire life's work of most artists. Dude is an absolute machine. I hope he figures out a way to stay emotionally stable. But I'll always be rooting for him. He's an infinite well of creative inspiration.

Kanye being kind of nerdy and wildly disrespected in his younger days explains why he is the way he is now. I think I’d be the same way if a bunch of people told me that my work was shitty and they ended up being WAAAAY wrong in retrospect. Kanye’s production credits are insane and I just kind of wish that he’d taken maybe 5-7 years to take a step back and work behind the scenes while he got his mental health together. Maybe, deep down, that would be hard to do since he was relegated to the background of other peoples projects for so long.

@@doeeyes2 I used to shoot video for Donda's House, and was around during that falling out. But more recently they have been in and out because of Kanye's political proclamations before Donda, they have since made up again. I learned this from my cousin who also worked on the album. Though Rhymefest returned to work on Donda 2.

I don’t really like rap but it’s very similar to the punk music and scene. Those who make it don’t ever look back at the street or kids that got them where they are. Selling out isn’t making it big, it’s forgetting everyone, and changing your sound just to be more marketable. You don’t have to change everything to get a song out there. DIY, instead of signing everything away to a big record label, make your own and produce your own LPs and CDs. Selling out to me at least, isn’t getting bigger, it’s acting better than everyone else. Make your money and good music.

Kanye is the greatest artist of all time. From music to fashion to performance art, he’s excelled at everything. His influence has reached all corners of culture and his ability to work with others as a composer in multiple mediums is incredible.
@JoshuaBatch
@JoshuaBatch 2 жыл бұрын
Not of all time but he’s up there in terms of influence and the footprint left. He’s defined a generation of music for sure.
@guwopman3503
@guwopman3503 2 жыл бұрын
@@JoshuaBatch my thing is it’s more than music though. Yeezy brand dramatically changed the direction of fashion. Kanye opened the door for other designers like Virgil, Heron Preston and Jerry Lorenzo who (alongside Ye himself) all changed what it looked like to design a luxury brand. And even before designing the fashion, his styling was revolutionary and I don’t think that’s hyperbolic. When you think about the pink polo and backpack from 2004, the high fashion mania of 2008, all the way to the masks and big rubber boots he’s wearing today, it’s easy to write it off or not immediately understand what’s been done in the grander scheme of things. But it’s very much like jeans. The thought of wearing jeans to school in the 1950s was unthinkable. Seeing musicians in jeans on stage was outrageous. So when you think about the first people, artists or otherwise, who got behind jeans as a wardrobe necessity, you have to recognize they were revolutionaries. Lmao just realized how much I typed. Well yeah in short Kanye really is a one of a kind artist who has changed the direction of the artistic world and therefore the social climate (the two go hand in hand in both directions). I doubt we’ll ever see another artist like him because there was never one like him before him lol. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk
