Oprah has done several things that have pissed me off, and of course they involve retail. several years back she was in Paris and went into Hermes, and because it was closing due to an event, she was asked to leave, since the place was bloody closing! Oprah went on this rant that she was denied service because she was racially profiled. and there was a massive backlash and Hermes had to apologise. even though they had done nothing wrong. the other was when she was in Switzerland for Tina Turner's wedding. She said a high end fashion store denied letting her look at a handbag made from crocodile skin. She made it out that she was "too poor to be in there" Oprah even made a big deal out of "i wasn't wearing make up, and looked like a normal person" but this time the store went on air and basically said Oprah was lying, gave her service, and didn't care that she was a billionaire, everything was caught on camera. with the implication, they didn't care and would release the footage. the fact the store suggested she wasn't telling the truth, which would mean that if it was true Oprah would have doubled down on them in fact everyone would have doubled down on them. but Oprah fell silent. even though the Swiss tourist board apologised (to save face), the store never did. even though she never named the store, and one was singled out as the store. now if i was racially profiled and suggested that i was lying about it, i would have demanded the footage be released...but Oprah didn't fall silent, in fact she later apologized in interviews, that it was "just an incident", and she "never named the store" why not name the actual store, double down on them? why even apologise for anything, if you were racially profiled? everyone else would have screamed the name from the rooftops. why be so silent, if you're telling the truth! and don't get me started on the Harry and Meghan interview, everything they said has been debunked to the point it's not on the official channels

It's weird thinking back to what a phenomenon Oprah was in the 90s/2000s. Her shows and topics were such a part of pop culture. If she featured a book in her Book Club, it was a best seller. She really built up the image of being inspirational and about self-help. Looking back, there were so many problems, but they just didn't make a dent to her image at the time.

I actually had an interview to go to that school she built. I was the top student in my province. They told me that they didn't have a space for me after my interview with her. Apparently, she hand picked each girl. I counted my blessings after. I still went on to study - for free & now I work in medical, but I know I would've been targeted bc of my people pleasing nature. I'm autistic & I don't talk much, even now. I type a lot though & have strong opinions & ideas, but I don't talk much.

Thank you for this. I grew up with classmates doing reports on how if they could be anyone when they grow up, they’d be Oprah. Or that she’s the most selfless, honest, 100% self-made millionaire who has overcome the worst of the worst all by herself.. No, babe. Oprah has been problematic for MANY, MANY years. She has truly hurt numerous guests, and she shouldn’t get a pass because of what she’s survived. She’s a human, not some idol who has no issues. She’s been hurt, and sickly she went on to hurt others. And she’s one of the most intelligent humans on earth, so we know she knew what she was doing when she went after her guests. Thank you Sloan. One of the things that stood out to me from the statement concerning the $10 million donation to the Maui fire victims was that they didn’t say they were each donating that amount. It likely means they each donated $5 million. Dwayne Johnson gave much more than Oprah if you take into account how much more she is worth compared to him. At least 10 times as much. Also, all the money given is a tax write-off. I am also sure neither went without as a result, yet were looking for pats on the back for their generosity. Anyone who has to brag about how wonderful they are, probably aren’t.

Poor Michael was SO uncomfortable during that interview. He started singing and turning inward because he didn't know any other way to calm himself. He was so vulnerable and innocent, watching him go through that was awful. I never believed for one second that he was a child molester. I am a victim of childhood sexual abuse, and I feel like I have a pretty decent radar for creeps, but he never made me feel like he had any interest in children other than vicariously reliving his own childhood through them.

When I went to the bahamas back in 2012 we did a tour with a local around town where he told us basically that Oprah owned property on the nice side of the island (where that famous hotel is) and that she basically (allegedly) told them "too bad" when it came to the locals needing shelter from hurricanes and hoping to use her and the other rich peoples properties for safety (or something along those lines)

Those companies donated those goods or at the very least gave deep discounts because being backed by Oprah meant instant success with your product. Generous Oprah- I think not!
