I’m a lawyer here in the US and our system is completely messed up too. Delays upon delays. Needless red tape. Small players in the system get crushed. But most important: honesty is not rewarded: it’s punished. I suspect it’s pretty much that way all over the planet. If we want a legal system that works, we need to start enforcing laws against the powerful. But that’s the thing: that will never happen. The justice system is crippled. The civil system is basically a lumbering joke. Maybe this is why more and more people are considering vigilante tactics.

@jt43694 жыл бұрын
@@uink452 Yes, don’t drink the “Koolaid” of advertising. California is especially terrible. It has much to do, I think, with ineffectual politicians and an electorate that doesn’t know any better. It’s all a giant problem: the media pushes a highly “us versus them” narrative because such stories get clicks and viewership. It polarizes and thus galvanizes resentment. Then, politics follows that sentiment. The courts then are inflicted by fear and a sense of self preservation. Women become convinced that they are forever oppressed or, similarly, that past wrongs must be paid for in exorbitant interest. Although I’m a lawyer with a California license, I’m increasingly inclined to leave this state and even this country. I loved America as it was, but “America” doesn’t love its citizens back. Few countries love its citizens anymore. Ironically, in order to develop a sense of mutual care and trust amongst the citizens, I believe that nationalism is almost a necessary element. If a country liberally allows its national character to be changed too quickly in the name of political correctness, the benefitted people’s, by and large, do not adopt the ideal mores of the new-home country. Counterintuitive to standard thinking, political correctness eventually leads to a type of fascism because it leads certainly to economic collapse and socioeconomic cleavage of the classes. You can hate the Swiss for being “xenophobic”, but within Switzerland, I suspect that the Swiss are mostly United together. But in the United States, the people are bifurcated by class tensions and the atmosphere is only getting worse-much of it due to naive and moronic politically correct policies.

@@jt4369 What an eye opening response! But what about the healthcare, education and employment, isn’t that doing well? Also, all the world’s top companies and research institutions are established in the US. Shouldn’t that be an advantage to your country compared to the third world countries?
@jt43694 жыл бұрын
@@uink452 The Chinese community have a wry parable that darkly reflects the state of the healthcare system here in the USA: “You want to be born in America, you want to die in America. But you never want to get sick in America.” The implication being that if the disease doesn’t kill you, the invoice surely will. As for education, it would be naive to believe that much of that has to do with branding. Branding and marketing matters. I’m ethnically Chinese. I know full well that “made in China” is another darkly sinister slang term used in conversational language to basically mean crap. And you know what? China earned that reputation. For generations, China was known for mass producing barely passable junk that was good essentially as a stop gap measure. Comparatively, Germany, Italy, Japan have their own reputations, all of those decidedly better than Chinese. Right now, China is suffering a real marketing setback. And you’ll see me shedding no tears. I won’t voice my verdict on Chinese mindsets that let to this, but the almost indisputable fact remains that it will take a decade at least for China to shed its reputation for embarrassingly poor quality. And it will come. The communists are minting more math students every year than most countries can have children. And despite the rampant cheating, huge swaths of Chinese-and Indian-students are perfectly capable of filling highly technical positions. The fact is, plenty of great schools exist outside of America and produce some of the finest engineers around. It’s just that they don’t have the marketing label. As each year passes, the masses learn that the mystique of the American University degree has lost much of its shine. The 4 year university is no longer a ticket to the front row in life like it once was. The world demands maths, science, engineers. Only the very wealthy and privileged can afford to send their children to an expensive college to learn “the arts.” And steadily, one can learn maths from KZbin and other online learning. So yes, you can pick up a brand name 4 year degree. Think Harvard, Princeton, Cornell. At those Ivies, you mostly buy exclusivity and the privilege to run elbows with future politicians and other socialites. But MIT, Caltech and highly technical schools? They want people who possess technical brains. That can be developed and trained through hard work and discipline. Social privilege? That’s daddy and mommy. And people want social privilege. America is just lucky that we have names like Carnegie-Mellon, etc. Oh, and employment? Our numbers from the BLS-the Bureau of Labor Statistics-are all a joke. One needn’t be a genius in numbers to know that the numbers are all a bunch of crock. The true state of unemployment out there in America’s cities is frightening. It’s probably close to 20 percent and climbing. Our Metropolitan centers are looking like Third World shanty towns. In California, we have about half of this countries homeless laying about in the street. Many of these people are made homeless Simply because of the “invisible hand” and its merciless meanderings. But Adam Smith may have recoiled at the comparison because our politicians were too inept or shackled to do anything substantive about it. No, our employment figures are a complete joke. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were nothing more than bald-faced lies.

This is highly illegal even in india. This company is liable to get sued in india for all its worth. Their policies are against the labour laws of india. You can't keep the original paper work of an employee post verification process. You can't deduct any employees salary more than the leave taken. And maximum weekly work hours can't be more than 52 hours.
@MrChetan4864 жыл бұрын
Is there really any working hour laws in India? 52 hours amounts to roughly 8.5hours.
@deeptobanerjee244 жыл бұрын
@@MrChetan486 yes there is. Anything more than 52 hours a week, you either get overtime, or its a request from your boss that you are complying. There is no legal way your organization can make you work over 52 hours a week. In my organization, we get a compulsory off if we do over 52 hours a week. So if it's 56 we get a half a day's worth in leave and 8 hours more and it's a full day off, and so forth.
@tanmayvij71914 жыл бұрын
Assuming such laws exist, I can bet you there are millions of companies who don't care about it. A large majority of businesses deduct more salary than the leave taken based on some bullshit policy and lots of companies have 9-hour shifts for 6 days a week. Some even have 7 day open policies
@deeptobanerjee244 жыл бұрын
@@tanmayvij7191 No they don't. Any Limited or Private Limited company can't and don't do this. The legal fines are simply too high. Any company with over 50 employees can't do it because the fines will bankrupt the company. And they will be blacklisted. I have been working 12 years now. I am in the engineering R&D field. Trust me this shit doesn't happen a lot. It's only happens in the 1-2% of very small companies, and those are worth working for in the first place.
@tanmayvij71914 жыл бұрын
@@deeptobanerjee24 that's relieving to know. All I wonder is if the penalties actually happen in practice. In many cases the employees don't even report either due to lack of awareness/resources or due to job desparation.

OK this needs to be said: We Indians run behind only one thing: Money. That is the only thing that motivates us. Of course as we grow up and fall into various age brackets, the money morphs into different things: status, respect etc. etc. But in the end it is always money. Honesty, integrity and fair play is something we say we will think about once we "Make it". This is the reason why we cheer rule breakers or dishonest men. In India we don't call dishonest men dishonest, we just call them smart. We make them into our leaders and movie stars and so on. In India the more dishonest you are the more money you can make. This is not a country where 9 times out of 10 you will pay a very heavy price for being honest. Every time we feel that as a country we have a problem we are made to forget it immediately by patriotic songs, some desh bhakti movies, some patriotic speeches or ideas about how great a country India was 100 or 500 years ago(we had so much gold etc. etc.). The reason why such CEOs have popped up is because for every one Indian who will stand up against them there are a million more who will agree to go and work for him thinking that he has the one over you or just because he can make some money. The reason why numerous such CEOs have popped up in India is because we as a country are the same way and if we get the chance, 9 out of 10 of us will want to be like him and boss people around. Think about how many CEOs of the BIG IT companies(you know which IT companies I am talking about) who make people work for peanuts you have hailed or seen the media hail as Tech innovators or Father of Tech in India or Job creators. Say you stand up and tell that guy you wont work for 12 hours.. how many of our own countrymen will be standing to work 13 hours for the same guy? Thousands! Of course we can keep having the false pride about our country and get offended for everything, but we need to remember that the next time you see such an exploiter CEO who is constantly bullying his employees, ask yourself, when was the last time you cheered a bully in a movie theatre, when was the last time you bullied your subordinate, when was the last time you voted for a bully/exploiter ? When was the last time you stood up to such people ? Remember that dirt like these CEOs have spawned from one place and one place only : From amongst us!! Till we understand that, we will keep producing men like these.

Thank you for bringing all this to light with your hard work, Josh! People need to realize the global state of work laws and how "businesses" and corporates exploit workers as much as they can get away with! In most Asian cultures, the cultural concept of "loss of face" is leveraged to shame employees and keep exploitative practices running (like shaming an employee for not working long enough hours or for not working hard enough for little pay). The overvalued price they put on personal reputation connected to the "loss of face" concept extends to managements' need to look "benevolent" and "kind" to all their staff by offering "favors" such as unpaid internships. Your research unmasks the truth. They don't realize that people in different countries won't back down in response to threats, shaming, or manipulations! They can't play the same tricks on you! Please keep up the brilliant work! You have the bravery to do what others won't do.
