As an Aussie this whole situation is so sad to me. There are so many local aussie bakeries right now that are struggling to make ends meet, but they hold such a special place in our communities. Australia is heavily exposed to American culture, so many movies and shows we watch are from America, with American actors, to the point that when we hear our own accent it throws us off. I think this whole situation highlights how the “mainstreamness” of America culture had its grip on Australians when we have so many incredible things here already

More people need to mention that Crumbl is owned by LDS members (Mormons), so 10% of their profits goes into the hundreds of billions of dollar corporation that is the Mormon Church. The church that refused to help their members during the panorama and insisted that their members still had to tithe 10% of all their income to the church or they would lose their temple privileges. Especially food items entering Australia, so I cannot see this taking place without several laws being broken. And yes, days old cookies does not sound appealing at all. I've watched so many of these vids going over it and no one has mentioned yet that if you want to sell food in Australia, you have to get licensing/certification from a govt body. Even food stalls at markets need it and most display it for clarity. This would not have been given licensing straight off the bat so there's another dodgy thing this lot have done. Also, turns out it was 2 early-20s rich kids so you can bet daddy'll bail them out.

I recently tried crumbl cookies and they were honestly disgusting. I think they are being way overhyped and they are definitely not worth risking everything to ship them like that. @sabrinamarra27592 ай бұрын
As someone who has a Commercial Online Bakery in NY, transporting/shipping cookies is a very touchy thing. I can ship all over the country, and I heat seal everything. Everything usually takes at most 2-3 days to ship but they're also sealed. And not stale when they arrive. I would HATE if this happened to my business even though I'm so much smaller than Crumbl.

The problem is, there are many crumble style recipes online. Some even used boxed cake mix and they said the result is so close. If they had baked some in their house and started their own “crumble style” cookies business , they would have made good money and zero troubles!
@amsterlikewat4682 ай бұрын
This is what I was thinking, they did all of that work when they could have comissioned someone to make "crumble style" cookies for way cheaper? Cookies are one of the easiest baked goods to make so I don't understand... they could have marketed it slightly different but gotten the same result and see what interest there is and maybe actually make a home baked business that specializes in those cookies??
@adelemaidment7562 ай бұрын
The math ain't mathing with those numbers they provide. If they bought 700 cookies, which their receipts don't even match but that's another story, and sold them at $17.50 a piece, then they made $12,250. Their breakdown of expenses, just the numbers they provided alone, is $13,000. Last I checked, that's a complete loss of $750 and I didn't include the "more" in staff costs plus the extras they added on to the bottom of the list.

Yeah, the numbers don't make a lot of sense. $11.75 US per cookie sold, assume $5.50 US to buy, that's making $6.25 US per cookie. Sell 800 cookies, $5000 US. Okay, so how much is the flight back and forth? They claim they also paid customs fees. Did they pay to rent the venue? I don't see how this could be very profitable. At best, close to break even. Even if they lied and didn't pay anything but cookies and flights, they made what, a few thousand? And now they're going to have corporate lawyers after them. Good job guys.

The CRUMBL company would be disgusted with this pop up 😂 When you go to pick up your order they personally open the box and ask you how does it look, if there is a visual issue they will fix/remake your order.
