This entire video is cathartic. The frustration I have with all the latest games has been eloquently voiced here. It's the fact that these activists have hijacked the old beloved IPs like Dragon Age, Batman Arkham, Star Wars, Assassin's Creed, and even Scooby Doo to push their message. They know, in their blackened hearts of hearts, that if they were to try to make an original IP to push their propaganda, they'd be as dead as Dustborn and Concord.
@TheDezembro13 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! I made other videos following up on some of these matters individually. And yeah they know they'd fail but more than that, they know they'd be left alone. It's not their goal to be included.. or to make their own games. It's their goal to cause impact instead.. and they're fine sacrificing the games themselves. It's insane that people still do business with them. It's... lol... it's like I'm in an alternate reality. I UNDERSTAND the agenda. I UNDERSTAND the financial support through the big corporations funding the social engineering.. But these fucking studios and publishers are still losing money. If they weren't, then Sony wouldn't have shut down Concord and the studio as well. So why do they keep doing it? I think they're trying to craft a new normal with its own new fanbase that will eat it up. I will never stfu about this stuff.

I was pretty ignorant to what DEI was because I had never heard of it until I took a Business Ethics course earlier in the year. We had an entire unit on DEI and Corporate Responsibility. Naturally, I thought it sounded reasonable for businesses on paper. But the more I look into it and what it actually does… it’s very concerning how it was mentioned in basically all of my business courses at least a few times. I guess that’s the cost of being a business major. I actually really loved my business ethics class and the professor was awesome, but unfortunately pushing the DEI stuff in curriculums is misinforming new students like me. Why is it ‘Equity’ and not ‘Equality’?

First of: great video, I largely agree with your points. I'm glad I watched another video of your's before this one and knew you present your opinions in a calm, rational and nuanced way, because otherwise I probably would never have clicked on this video. It is unfortunate but the loudest people I see complaining about "DEI" and "wokeism" or whatever are not nearly as nuanced as you are. To many of them *any* representation of other races or identities is bad, no matter how well written or subtle it is, to them any female character that doesn't look like a super model with double Ds is ugly and a sign of the end times. I know these people do not represent the majority of gamers, same as militant activists that vehemently defend DEI practices, but they poison any rational discussions around these topics.

In medieval fantasy, I don't mind diversity of POC,so long as it makes sense,I hate the fact that so many medieval fantasy games or shows have people just mixed up. Also, male black elves don't look good. The physical features just don't fit. Black female elves,yes,because I've seen a lot of beautiful black women cosplaying as elves,but not men.
@Ravix0fFourHorn14 күн бұрын
Elves should be white as milk. Also Elves up until modern audience chasers got their hands on them had their own distinct facial structure/features. Wish we went back to that, its not racist or anything it just is. Elves aint real anyway why should they be black or asian or caucasian like??
@TheDezembro14 күн бұрын
@@Kat1kafka the annoyance to me is how they don't even bother to make them look like elves. Rings of Power and Dragon Age Veilguard show how even the whitest person can still look like a shit elf because of them just wanting to make everything look "human". In Rings of Power they just don't bother the way Lord of the Rings did. They just look like random blokes cosplaying. And Veilguard is the same but in game form. Just regular ass ethnically diverse people - all of them looking like they're from downtown Los Angeles tho lol - with elf ears. They don't bother getting sharper and more "elvish" face features, they don't bother with the outfits either, and they certainly don't bother with the hair. I like Elder Scrolls elven diversity for example. Different races, with different skintones, and features. All elven though and all with their own lore. Dragon Age Veilguard just does it in the laziest and lamest way possible and with the wrong intent in mind. People shouldn't look to ELVES to feel seen and represented. It's so stupid. The aesthetics thing is stupid. As a woman, i dont care if most gamers prefer to look at a beautiful curvy fictional character. I'm not a huge fan of real people being photoshopped to meet some impossible proportions, but in fiction, who cares? I also dont want to play as myself in games. I actually prefer games where the protaginist is male and handsome. If there is going to be a backside on my screen for 70 hours, then I want to like that backside. Shrug. Final point. Having an overweight action hero is stupid. To fight like that you must be fit. I guess having enormous jugs would also be awkward in combat. 😂

I understand the argument about more realistic body standards and I agree to some extent, but then why is the response to then make a lot of major characters if not the MC ugly it's unrealistic to just have one end of the beauty spectrum. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" No shut up some of these scans and faces straight up look like men sometimes, that's not realistic.
@GambitronPrime14 күн бұрын
Why have ANY argument for "realistic" body standards? let the artist make what they want, if it's for you buy it, if not move on to something else, anytime we have someone gatekeeping art and determining what is acceptable or not creativity is stifled and then we get boring "one size fits all" crap.

Character races be accurate to history (unless stated in Lore of why that race is present) and also semi realistic women fighters, I enjoy more agile based females who fight by stay away from the male brawler. Yeah I'm a sucker for great music that adds a deeper dynamic in a game. Brings the world a deeper feel. That's what i love about the witcher 3 ost. The feel is so oppressive with glimmers of hope. Every time i hear any track from that game i get a smile on my face no matter how much time goes by. Especially the hearts of stone expansion. My favorite expansion is blood and wine, and the music actually does have a vampiric feel to it, but hearts of stone has some of the best music in the entire game But yeah, the souls games definitely goes hard in the ways they DO express their storytelling, lack of direct storytelling so they do it thru the environment. and one of those ways is music

Division, exclusion, intolerance. That part about Kathleen Kennedy wanting Star Wars to appeal to more women. What these people don't understand is that they also alienate the female audience they already have. Do we see IPs with a majorly female audience get this treatment? No! I mean, I already didn't like the tone The Phantom Menace set. I hated the retcons, the more childlish tone (Jar Jar Binks being the most egregious example), but at least the prequels resulted in reviving the fandom, which then led to amazing novels, such as the Darth Bane trilogy. What has The Acolyte accomplished, aside from making the idea of "lesbian space witches" lame as well as utterly disrespecting existing lore? It's like being forced to share your toys with the kid who keeps breaking them and then acts like he didn't do it. And before someone cries misogyny, I am a woman. I'm a life-long Star Wars fan. No one is gate-keeping male-dominated IPs. But you cannot just barge into someone's house and demand they redecorate everything because you don't like the color of their wallpaper!

Yeah, we all were duped thinking actual diversity was going to be a thing. It used to be valid that the industry was just making the same protagonist (I think brunette, gruff white dude). Once you noticed it you wondered if it was more than just white guys in charge, likely more default/laziness. They went right over finding a balance and just did the same thing from the other side, but targeted white men in the industry to boot. It fixed nothing, it only made things worse because they got rid of everyone qualified and avoided diverse hires that didn't agree with them. If it was slim picking before, it certainly was then. White-washing, black-washing. All BS. I'm not even sure there will be a balance since I think humans are petty enough that we swing hard the other way. I never cared about who I played as, I cared about new kinds of stories and characters that were heroic.
