I want to share this video as widely as possible in Australia - where we have the most over-the-top paranoid population courtesy of a feed of non-stop Murdoch media owned anti-China propaganda. Australians have always been easy to scare, but it has reached a ridiculous stage. Genuinely enjoyed this intelligent and clear discussion on the matter. Thank you.

Murdoch's Chinese ex-wife, Wendy Deng must have pissed him off when they split up. She would have lightened his bank a/c by a few million, so now he's taking it out on China. The old prick was never going to keep with her anyway....lol

I remember back in the seventies as a teenager we Australians were being taught that Asian countries were our best and future trade partners , we were encouraged to learn the. Indonesian language in school, but I was surprised at some people I’ve known in Australia who were anti Asian, it always seemed silly to me. But many things that have been pushed on the worlds population in the last 20 30 years are strange, there are an awful lot of asians in Sydney, so many are finding it a good place to come to, I hope so anyway

Be open minded and remove all preconceptions, then visit China and experience yourself, then you will know how China looks like at least from surface level, which is already completely different from the western medies telling. Stay and live there for longer time , understand language and culture, then you will understand China deeper. It is a fantastic charming country and worth to explore! Great talk video, I like the title no cold war! We should work together and have war to fight against climate change, diseases, and proviety! Message from Singapore.

I'm a Brit living in China, I've just come home from a bike ride and encountered the 'authoritarian state police', let me tell you what happened. I was riding my e-bike and a traffic cop pulled me over with a bunch of other e-bikes. The cop was frantically trying to get a ticket to everyone. I asked 'What did we do wrong?' He told us all we had been riding on the road and not the designated bike lane. I asked him where the sign was for the bike lane pointed down the road, we all replied 'We didn't see it!' Then the cop was booking a middle aged lady and she said 'Remember you work us, the people. Yes we've broken a law and we should pay a fine but wouldn't it be a better use of your time to recommend putting up a bigger sign and in the mean time standing down the road and directing bikes into the correct lane?' With that the cop stopped processing the tickets and waved us through. It was incredible ,citizen diplomacy at its best! The police in China are regularly challenged on their judgement, and usually are open to reason.

Objective, erudite, knowledgable, Tings bring such clarity to explaining China and how it relates to the rest of the world, especially the West. It is really a racialist view that the West has of China from a 100 years ago. China is moving forward, and leading developing countries in the Global South towards a brighter, fairer, more just future. The West can cling to their racism and self-importance, it will come to a desparate end.

I remember how proud I was learning in my history class that Indonesia was one of the most important nation in Non-Block movement in the 1960s (conference was in Bandung, Indonesia, and even still have the historical road in Jakarta named Asia-Afrika Road.) But that was the time the US through CIA installed a puppet leader Suharto to remove our beloved first president who was close to USSR and China. It was a nightmare, they killed all communist party and a lot of Indonesian-Chinese. That is why my generation of Indonesian-Chinese can't speak Chinese because it was prohobited. You can browse or YT: Jakarta Method it will explain that method was quite successful that it was being used in Latin America and all over the world.

@@fredtan1506 why should they lose their lives, that does not make sense, all they have to do is go and work with people to help with organising for development? And she said that they were away from their families for years, that does not make sense either, they could have had holidays, I mean China has roads and railways, buses etc they could have spent a few weeks with their parents in the summer and winter.

@@richardrobinson4869 Why don’t you find out by watching Lawrence Kunn’s film. Logically it’s not impossible. People do die going to places, let alone remote places. For the later, it doesn’t mean you don’t visit home while you go away for a few years. Somehow your questions make less sense to me unless you can’t read between the lions or you only read things very literally.

@@Buckzoo2030 there was mention in the video about being away from families for years. Yes of course people do die from time to time anywhere whether remote or not; what seems to be unnecessary although not impossible is that people suffer a higher death rate by going and living in a remote or rural area, presuming they are young and healthy. I come form a background where camping and expeditions are something we have contact with an some experience of and as long as appropriate supplies are provided there is no need for excess deaths no matter how remote the area, as long as young healthy people are involved. The interviewee seems to suggest that it was somehow necessary for young people to die in order to. develop the backward areas, otherwise why would she mention that people died for that cause? I am the one reading between the lines a bit and as for taking it literally well just taking it as stated honestly. You don't seem to have understood the basics of what she said let alone read between the lines. I am not sure of the point of your response is tbh

Me and my wife walked the streets of Nanning in February 2019 at night around 11:00pm. We are in the 50's and we felt perfectly safe! We knew it could be minor crimes, but we didn't feel that our lives were threatening. I feel Chinese government can protect their citizens and the western governments keep say freedom and democracy, but the citizens cannot really use what the government's claim. For example, people don't feel safe going out at nights or send their kids to schools..... The end of the day, they can't protect their citizens!

We are just from 3 weeks visiting China, (Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’an) our first trip. We are blown away we how technologically advanced China is with their high speed rail at 350km/hour which we don’t even have here in Australia and China’s fast internet at 5G is more like 5.5G faster than anything I have ever experienced. We even had robots delivering our room service and asking for good reviews, just amazing especially taking the hotel lifts with the robots, hahaha, Most of all is the lack of crime and the safety that we felt even late at nights, imagine in cities like Shanghai with 30+ million, Beijing with 24 million and Xian with 11 million, it feels so different from living in the West where violence is common place. The streets are so so clean, it’s mind boggling for such a dense population. All in all it’s such an eye opener we can’t stop talking about it and can’t wait to go back again, it’s certainly a huge contrast to our visit to New York City last year where I was literally in fear of being assaulted and NYC broken infrastructure

Every year, a survey is conducted in Germany of 80+ countries to evaluate how much democracy the people enjoy. The survey asks people to compare what they expect of the performance of their government in serving the needs of the people, to what they think the government has fulfilled their expectations. China scores within the top 5 whereas the US is in the bottom 40 countries. The Kennedy School of policy studies also conducted a 12 year study of the Chinese people's perception of their government's performance in governing the country and consistently, the people's satisfaction of the performance of the CPC has been in the 90th percentile! That is a true measure of the democracy experienced by the people. In China, you can't change the party in power but the people have the power to change government policies via protests and feedback!

Why is it that I can understand The Chinese guests better than the Bnritish Hosts, who has the really heavy British accent, while the chinese guest have hardly any accent. Why does China continues to described as Sociaist or Communist nation, when it does not seem to have a political character that we usually think informs a socialist mode of production. For example, China does not have universatl free education from my understaning, like Cuba for instance. Also, that people have to pay for some forms of health care, and there is no universal free health care, which is the case in a lot of the Western Capitalist countries. I wish someone could explain why China does not provide some of these safety nets, that we ususally think are examples of Socialism.

China follows socialism with Chinese characteristics. Ever heard of “three guarantees" (safe housing, healthcare, and education) and "two assurances" (being fed and being clothed)? Basic healthcare is in some areas free or near free. People are advised to participate in public health insurance pools which provide additional coverage at a very low cost. And if assistance is needed the government has programs setup to help. You have tuition free education ( in some areas boarding included) for 9 years and subsequent education is often very affordable. You can’t compare Cuba and China. The size, scope and trajectory is very different.

That is aggressively being shut down in the west. If you dissent and start to become a threat, they will come after you hard (see Assange). They will censor you, demonetize you, freeze your bank accounts if they could (which they are aggressively trying to achieve). Pretty scary to see the loss of freedom of speech happening (see Palestine-israel convo in current news).

Why don't you ask the students protesting the Gaza genocide at Colombia and other US institutions about the so called freedom to express? It's about time ya'll take off the blinders in the West and realize "the oligarch's" only allowed you a brief period of freedom because that served their imperialist agendas.

I went to my sister's graduation the Chinese there treated us like shiiiit because we were Black Chinese doing Black face which we find really offensive if you Chinese want to treat us the way Black Palestinians are treated by the Arab that is your choice. However, if you ever start suffering in any way no matter how small we won't support you like many of us are walking away from the Gaza problem because of obsessive Arab anti African racism.

Emigration doesn’t imply conditions in China are bad neither, especially today. Do you know it’s estimated that 9 million Americans emigrated overseas. While China has ~ 11 millions overseas, with 1-2 millions in Africa. Africa can’t be better than China, obviously many are looking for better opportunity. China has 1.4 billion people, even just 1% is very poor, you still have 14 millions of them. Obviously there are more them. Yeah. You bet there are still ppl want to emigrate. About 15% of Americans polled by Gallup in 2022 said they wanted to leave the US. Go figure! It’s not just the Chinese.

Can you criticise say the operating of the Chinese legal system or specific laws in China? Are there restrictions on joining the communist party? Are communist party members more free to discuss political and social issues than ordinary people?

Chinese (whether communist party members or not) are more free than Americans to discuss any issue. Chinese are not restricted to discuss/criticize Israel or supporting Palestinians, unlike Americans who are restricted or censored for doing so.

That's because the US has a fake democracy. Just like every thing else in the US are fake. It's economy is fake, the largest monopoly game on planet Earth. It's government is only of the 1%, by the 1% and for the 1% of it's population. It's government is fake. For it's their Deep State that runs the government. It's 4 yearly election is just a charade for democracy. The Wall Street market is fake for it's the most manipulated share market in the world. To summarise the US is the number 1 fake on planet Earth.

The Tiannamen Square "Massacre" was covered live on Chinese news stations at the time, showing the burnt bodies of soldiers and military vehicles who were killed by the supposed "pro democracy protesters". Too bad, KZbin usually removes these vids if they're uploaded onto the site. So much for Western "free speech".
