Expression Session Buzzer Beater at the 23rd Annual Newport Classic

One of the favorite heats of the Annual Newport Classic is definitely the Expression Session! A no holds barred 30 minute session, with no rules and one objective,,,,get the best, biggest, and most impressive moment of the session. I heard a rumor that you get was a pretty bad ass croakie if you win the session, but ultimately its a year's worth of bragging rights that's at stake.
At the 23rd Annual Newport Classic in 2024 eight participants paddled out in challenging waves to go after the win. The current was absolutely ripping around the end of the jetty (see clip in the beginning of the video) and the sets were pretty inconsistent, but when it was all said and done the following surfers put on one heck of a show for the spectators who packed the beach.

One of the surfers took an early lead and held on to it until there was less than 10 seconds left in the heat where victory was ripped from his hands with one monster maneuver. There was solid action and the guys were absolutely going for it!
