So, what do you think? Are you planning to extend all your partitions now?

Please provide a method to move unallocated space at the left of the rescue partition on operating system drive if you are able to work that out

Yes, merging and extending partitions isn't that big of a problem unless you're working with the drive that the OS is located on.

I came here to learn how to extend my basic disk, while my C has 1.36GB free memory out of 116GB in total, And my D has 286 GB free out of 917 GB. Unfortunately, unless missed it, I can't say that this video spot a light on the solution I'm looking for 😔

Thank you for your comment. This video is referring to a specific situation which usually prevents the resizing of a partition depending on the location of the unallocated space. It also is referring to a situation in which the partition you are extending is not the system partition (which is the C drive in most cases). If your C partition and D partition are on the same disk, you could extend the C partition in specific situations. This depends of the location of the unallocated space on your disk. Note: you can only extend partitions on the same disk, not between 2 disks. Hope this helps.

@@thewhynet I've already tried and accidentally deleted the back up partitions. Paid to a technician to reinstall Windows 10 for me after I couldn't even reboot it from the BIOS. True story.

Nice explanation. But you missed one crucial one especially being that you were using a virtual machine and so could have taken a snapshot to avoid re-installing - meaning, you could show all manner of problems that would arise if you made a mistake. So, here's my question/scenario? Imagine I'm trying to go from a 500GB to 4TB SSD. If I clone the disk, I get plenty of empty unallocated space at the end of the disk. There are 4 partitions between it the the free space. Can I successfully expand my main Windows partition and be able to boot without issue?

Hi akk2766, Windows allows you to manipulate partitions in a specific way (as described in this super amazing video😉). For those special situations in which the manipulation capabilities are limited, you can use one of many Live CD type applications available for free. On such application is called GPARTED and stands for "GNOME Partition Editor". Their website allows you to download a bootable image which you can use to manipulate your partitions further. Be careful when using such a tool and ALWAYS make sure you have backups!

@@thewhynet Yes, really amazing video - :). After upgrading the SSD in my laptop from 512GB to 4TB, I was unable to boot Windows normally - it got stuck in automatic repair loop. However, after booting to safe mode, then simply rebooting, I was successful in getting Windows to boot normally. Why did going into safe mode help?

Still doesnt solve my problem :( I installed a Dual Boot on the same SSD with Linux being installed first. Linux has 2 partitions, then comes my empty space which I want to add to C:, then comes a 14MB (or so) partition that is only visible under GParted but not under Windows, then comes my Windows (C:) partition. I cannot click extend and I'm pretty sure I must not delete the 14MB partition from GParted or some live Linux. Any ideas on this?

This is a very unique situation and might require a third party application to properly configure.
