If you had watched the whole episode of Finding Your Roots, and not just a selected clip, you would know that they already spoke at length about the white ancestry on her mother's side, before the Mayflower revelation, and there was no surprise reaction around that. She knew she had white ancestry, she just didn't know the specifics of it (because, you know, slavery and centuries of racism can make it hard to find records of your family history in many cases). Finding out that she had a, white, ancestor that not only came here on the Mayflower but was also a prominent person in that context was what took her back in that moment. May I suggest you do some research into what you talk about if you don't want to come off as ignorant or parroting things that others say just because it fits your narrative and worldview?

I remember as a teen in the early ‘70’s of the story of Angela Davis supplying guns to a group that took over a courtroom in which a white elderly judge was murdered. I remember it was in the news and there was a newspaper article of the judge moments before he was murdered. Unforgivable.
